This turned out to be a great event! The weather was perfect, the trails were nice and the people were excellent.

I want to give a big thank you to everyone that showed up this past weekend and I hope you had as much fun as I did. I would also like to give another big thanks to the sponsors that offered goodies for Saturday night's raffle/auction with special recognition to RoverTym, Lucky 8, Hard Labor Creek Fabrication, Camel 4x4, Southeast Overland, Rovaguy, and Rover Automotive for coming out to the event to experience the 8th Annual Uwharrie Rover Expedition with us first hand.

Thanks again and I am already looking forward to the 9th annual URE!

Best regards,
-Steven

Here's a link to Justin's Disco rollover demonstration. I was surprised to see that the truck made it to roughly 45 degrees before tipping.

I had a good time too. Thanks to everyone for putting on the event. It was nice to meet a bunch of you guys. My truck did great on some of the easier trails so I was happy with that. Didn't want to push it and break anything. Looking forward to seeing some of Jack's hundreds of pics from the weekend. It was my first Land Rover event and I felt pretty comfortable there even though I didn't know anyone going into it. Thanks again

I had two objectives this weekend. One was to meet as many other enthusiasts as I can, as I didn't know many at all. That was accomplished. The second was to get some kind of dirt from the wild on my truck so I can begin to reduce my self-imposed poser classification and degrade the argument that if I am never going to take it anywhere than why have it. also missions success.

Now you just need some lockers, HD shafts, sliders, and a few other small bits of armor and your truck will truly take you anywhere.

Had a great time - didn't bend/break anything and really enjoyed the event.

Awesome pics Jack! Thanks for being in the right spot at the right time, although I wish you were snapping away on our group at the second ledge on Daniel (where the guys are pulling down on the bumper above). My group was the one with the two buggies.

Cheers

My favorite lens is the Canon 24-70 F2.8L lens - best for walking around taking pictures of stationary trucks. The shots around camp were all shot with that lens and some of the trail shots. I use this lens a lot at the car shows I go to.

I also used the Canon 70-200 F4.0L Non-IS lens for the action shots on Daniel and a few other places.

I shoot a Canon 1DsMkII full frame digital camera - 16.7 MP resolution - I have way too much money in camera stuff but it's one of my major hobbies - along with Land Rovers, Porsches and old campers.

Its hard to be where you need to be to get the good action shots - I was glad we hiked down the hill from the top of Daniel to catch the action at the third ledge - that was fun.

Thanks Jack. I took a total of 5 photos this weekend and they were all of the Lucky 8 D90 sank in the mud hole. I'm still attached to the same 24-70 2.8L like yours and love it. Do wish I had a full frame weather resistant body like a 1D though.

All my shots were from an Iphone4, and 90% of them have my bonnet tire taking up half the shot. 1% were from 9% dismounted shots when the convoy came to a stop on a trail, and the last 9% were from the Outpost parking lot.

I need to get somebody to come with me next time to take some damn pics!
