UK Based Team Gigglepin, at King of the Hammers 2013

Hello, I hope you don't mind me putting this here. I am trying to drum up support for Team Gigglepin who will be competing at King of the Hammers in a few weeks.

Look out the British are coming......

UK based Gigglepin4x4 will be competing at the King of the Hammers offroad race on Feb 8th 2013 at the OHV in Johnson Valley, California in their Landrover Evo3 racer, join in their support by liking their facebook page:

https://www.facebook.com/TeamGigglepin

Team Gigglepin from the UK and Australia are honoured to have been invited to race at the King of the Hammers 2013. Jim Marsden from the UK and Wayne Smith from Australia, jumped at the opportunity to share Pier Acerni's container and get their Landrover based Evo 3 racer shipped to California ready to race.

Heres some info from the Team Bio pages

"Team Gigglepin have been racing for 12 years at the very top of the sport.
Having won many major titles, and innovators of the iconic Twinmotor winch. Team Gigglepin are well known and respected around the world.

Team Gigglepin is Gigglepin 4x4 owner Jim Marsden and a host of quality co drivers from either the British Isles or Australia.
It first started 12 years ago when Jim was part of the winning team that dominated the inaugural XX-trem category at the Legendary Belgium National, also securing the Team spirit award in the process.
Since then, Jim and Team Gigglepin have gone from strength to strength and are now racing the Evo 3 race car designed and built by Gigglepin 4x4 in 2011.
After a week of testing and completing SVA (singular vehicle approval), the team headed off to compete at the Ultra tough Croatia Trophy against over 100 teams from over 14 different nationalities. *Cutting a long story short, after 8 days of racing they won by a staggering margin of 4.5hrs and also won the outstanding achievement award for doing so."

I spoke with Jim recently and he assures me he and Wayne are under no illusions about the intensity and difficulty of the King of the Hammers, but they are relishing the opportunity to have a go at this legendary race.

Team Gigglepin will be pitting with Axel Burmann, with Acerni offroad next door at 129/133 GenRight so if you fancy coming to meet us then please drop by and say Hi.

Thanks. The main team will be arriving this weekend with the remainder (myself included) the following weekend. Other than the 10 or so days around race day we won't be over for much longer though there are a few days after the event we have free.

The name Giggelpin is taken from the Jim's business Gigglepin 4x4 a local Landrover Garage, and I believe a Gigglepin is a split pin put in the small drainhole in the bellhousing to keep it clear so that any oil leaking from the rear crank oil seal can escape without fouling the clutch plate

Anyone besides me heading out to watch. This will be my third year and it's always a great show. Great racing, checking out race trucks, people watching and just being out in your truck.

William, great to see another defender doing the KOH. Have you talked to Dave (BuckOn37's or something like that here)? He did it a few times in a D90.

Also, what do you guys do for qualifying? Do you do a qualifying run right before the event?

The team are starting 24th for qualifing on Tuesday the 5th Feb. Team Gigglepin will also be racing in the Every Mans Challenge on the Thursday the 7th, Glutton for punishment I reckon but then its not everyday you travel 5500 miles to get to an event, so may as well make the most of it
