I saw this posted in a thread in the help forum and it got me thinking:

All this talk of the Great D-110 Cross-Country Journey has me yearning for a bit of adventure. I'm interested in doing the Colorado - New Mexico - Utah portion of this trail. To keep the costs down, my idea is to camp about 2/3rds of the time and stay in motels when the weather is bad or the camping is poor.
I haven't used any vacation time at work in quite a while, so I'm quite serious about this. Ideally, I'd like to do this mid-summer, when the camping is nice and the high passes of Colorado are free (or mostly free) of snow.
PS- Here's a neat journal
from a British guy who ran the trail on a motorcycle.
