trails in Moab!

I'm planning to head to Moab in few weeks with the kids to have some fun. However, we are taking the Disco and was wondering what is the best trail to run, not looking to run a hard trail, I'm basically looking for easy to moderate with a lot of scenic views and good camping spots.

here is the disco spec:
03 no CDL, rock sliders, LR stock winch mount with 8000lb winch, LR HD front springs, and Nitto terra grappler tires 255/55/18.

Hells Revenge
7 Mile Rim/Tip-over Challenge
Fins and Things
Eye of the Whale
Tusher Tower/ Tunnel
Onion Creek
Gold Bar Rim

Did them all with my D-2 (Before Modifications)

The bottom of your trailer hitch will be bright and shinny, and you may rub your front spoiler a little but not to bad.

Oh and with kids for sure do Klondike Bluffs, there are dinosaur footprints along the trail.

Here is a great writeup on most of those trails mentioned above. As you will see it is mostly Disco II's.

Mike, are driving the Disco when you come over tonight?
As for my rear hitch, don't worry I can raise the Disco's butt 1"+ over stock so I'm hoping I won't drag it, and as for the front, the new bumper has better approach then the older DII's So I guess I'm fine!

Kai, sounds like a fun trip, but my Dicso is no where setup like the ones in the write up

Thanks

Ok, so I was at the Solihull society meeting today and I found out that they are going to Moab this weekend so I asked If I can go with them and the answer was yes Now the question is where is the best spot to camp? Free! Keep in mind I never camped before and I have two kids so I need a spot that not in the middle of no where, something close to town but not in town.

Boy, I've dreaming to go to Moab since March and now I'm going this weekend and the first weekend of May, man that feels good

Camp up the Colorado River. There are several nice campsites south west of town along the road that takes you to Kane Creek, and the Lockhart Basin Road.

Hang a right at the MacDonalds, stay left at the fork in the road and follow the river. About 4-5 miles down you'll see campsites in the cottonwoods and you can camp there (maybe free, can't remember).

If you want to camp for free free, then you can head up to Ken's Lake (south of town, take a left at the gravel pit), or keep heading out on the Lockhart Basin road and find a site you like.

You can legally camp anywhere on BLM land (which is damn near everywhere), and you can even camp in WSA's under some conditions. (WSA = Wilderness Study Area)

You could camp in my old college buddy's backyard if you get desperate.

Lemme know.

Yousef,
We camped out the slickrock bike trail camp ground (sorry don't remeber the actual name of the park). It was very close to town(less than 5 minutes). Had toilets and some great veiws. I think it was about $7 per vehicle. You will pass "Lion's Back" and "Baby Lion's Back" along the way and Fins and Things is located within the park. Also, the winding road going up to the camp offers some great veiws. Another tip: the Tesoro gas station on the main drag in town has a small campground and little cabins to rent. They also have a nice shower you can use for $5 a shower; would be great for the kiddos.

Hey thanks for the info Michael Hopefully we won't get desperate, the kids been wanting to camp for the past three years but I'm to lazy to do it, got all the equipment though. We probably camp for one night and spend the other in the hotel, need the shower don't want to get stinky

Kai, those prices are not bad, I thought they were going to be $25 + which then I'd rather stay in a hotel.

I'll check with the group leader tonight to see if they are staying in a hotel or camp.

Solihull? I'm thinking about it. Only concern is it would be my first out west. I'm afraid of what some of you might do late at night....

I mean on the trail....

Seriously though. I've been looking for an opportunity to hook up out west and link some trails. Let me knoow CVC if you want another rig.

I am sure that if its the rally we are heading too, we will get a thread cooking about it for us East coast people to put a plan together.

The trip was fun, we ran 3D trail I think! My Disco suffered a lot.

We could not camp since all the camping spots were full. There was something with bicycles rally or what not, even the hotels were bad.

Well, here some pictures from the trip. None of my Disco since everyone wanted to take pictures from there camera's.
