I wouldn't want to do it with only one vehicle. The more off highway the better. It'd be cool to get a group of 3-4 trucks to do it.

Cool, I can teach him that school is for fools and that being a mechanic is way cooler.

Ok so to revive...getting into the final stages of preparation for this trip. Map is done...D90 is done, say for a few details. Just tweaking between now and the June 30th departure date. Looks like 7 weeks of hell in a D90!

2,000 miles?? What am I missing, seems more like 8,000+ miles. I made a 5,000 mile trip in my D90 once, to Yellowstone, Moab, Big Bend and back to Beaumont, Texas, that was a LONG trip. But it was fun for sure. Only thing I wished for was cruise control. Even a hand throttle would have worked on some of those long straight roads, leg kind of goes numb after a while and your leg will be cooked if you don't really put some good heat shield in the tunnel cover.

The milage comes from the google map...2000K in a D90 might as well be 8000K. Unless you use heat shield from a space craft aint nuthin stoppin the "cook"! We will be doing it over 7 weeks so there will be lots of stopping and when possible a lodge stay every 3 or 4 days so it should balance out. It will be a good time of year for travel, not considering the flying bugs...

I removed my tunnel cover and heat shield both sides. Made a big difference. I also put a few towels between my leg and the tunnel. But yeah it even made it through that after a while. But luckily in a D90 with a standard tank you will be stopping every 220 miles or so (which does get old).

Mine is dynamated and has the Exmoor cockpit condom. What gets me is the emergency brake handle chewing into my calf. And I don't chance it I usually stop and refuel every 175 miles. I'll be carrying about 20 gallons of extra fuel and hauling about 1800 lbs.

Yeah I was lucky enough to have an extended range gas tank install, it was only 9 extra gallons, but it made a lot of difference. Lots of places don't have fuel stops on every corner like they do in Texas.

A quick look on my map shows 3500 miles one way, the most direct route.

Yes, you're correct I was looking at the wrong data, but like I said 2k or 8k it's a haul...it shows round trip on land 6276 miles. The ferry from Skagway to Bellingham doesn't count...lol.

Looks like a good route. Watch fuel stops up the 37. It is quite remote and long way between stops, IIRC. Looks like Kitawanga to Dease Lake, 290 miles. Not sure if there is anything in between.
