I'm still planning to do this if I can score a newish 1.4 TC and install the Roamerdrive by then. I'll also need to figure out how to stay connected for my job. Any tech savvy guys want to chime in?

Also, do we want to have some original graphics/stickers made up for the rigs that are participating? http://www.defendersource.com/forum/...tml#post706488

Bo do you have a cell plan you can use as a hot spot? I would suggest Verizon is better for boon dock coverage..
My ATT plan sucks out in the sticks

Thanks Rob, but I have AT&T. My service is so bad here in the mountains that I have to use a microcell at my house.

Never had issues with Verizon when I lived in Banner Elk, Boone or WJ. From what I remember AT&T is terrible up there.

Same boat as me, Verizon does offer a stand alone 4g hotspot which you could use on a short term (pay as you go) The MiFi jet pack
Looks like they are more w/o the contract..
Or maybe an iPad cellular those are pay as you go

I can bring my hot spot and I have the big Wilson booster and Verizon, so I get pretty good coverage. If you dont need more than 5 gig over the trip you are welcome to use it.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm going to need at least an hour or two a day and 5 gig is only good for 5 hours at best.

Pray tell what requires 5GB every 5 hours? Are you a drone pilot? Terrestrial IR NRO analyst?

If I told you...well, you know.

I'm the admin for an online community much like this one, only bigger.

You could probably just spend every night in a hotel. Or spend a few hours a day in a Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks.

If you need to be constantly connected all day...i hope they pay you well to be an admin!

Is that something I could count on? I really don't have a very good feel for how close to civilization we're going to be from one day to the next.

I am unsure how far we will get...here are the sections though. As suspected it seems like civilization is not too far away at any given time.

Not sure yet where we will start - I assume the beginning???

Craig,

Will take 3-4 days to make it to TN if you start in NC
If the trip is 10 days, and you start in OBX, you will barely make it past TN

Having never done it, I hesitate to offer input, but based on topography, sections 5 thru 9 could be interesting??

Word is from the experts (Shayne & Gustavo) to start up in Memphis...otherwise NC to Memphis is better done in a Honda Civic to save on gas

Official start is in east TN. We could start in Memphis. And we'll get as far as we get, me I'm hoping to make it to the farm in Kansas but really don't have a goal for the trip. Just go...
