LOL.....its been a overwhelming heating season to say the least.....booked thru Jan 15 right now and doing 2 installs a day, 7 days a week and still managing to squeeze in service calls. I will be around more in a couple of months and ready to get out of dodge and soak my head for a bit.

As for Ricks phone....I wish the bastard would take it back....

They don't recommend doing it backwards... I'm not sure I would like to be doing some of the faster sections and meet someone coming the other way in a faster section also.... I can see some of the sections being a challenge but then others that were a challenge the correct way being easier backwards..lol..

Shayne.

I wouldn't do Ouray backwards even if you pay me?

And if the desire of BlackBear , good luck doing the elbow backwards

And I have to tell you, with all the potential Rovers signing up, It will for sure be a Cluster Fudge, even the TN/MO section

As I am getting old, and probably never do this again, I might do one last shot with the bike instead of the Rover

My "home" leave is put in starting on the 19th through Memorial Day (other vacations to fit in with the family), work calendar is book out of office for the same time, so baring any client crisis I'm In..
These things go one of two ways either a circus with 10-12 trucks or I'll be alone
My plan is to try and reach liberal KS, but that may be optimistic.

After tomorrow I need to sort out fuel can storage, water and an improved rack for my Oz...

Did 600 miles in the 90 today, so it's solid.

how far for me is 7 days.. hopefully Liberal KS vicinity.. other than that i can't say.. b/c i don't know how much distance we can make per day.. 150? 200? 300?

250-300 sounds realistic per day at this point but may be totally optimistic

Distance you can do in a day varies greatly as to where you are on the trail...Oklahoma for example you can do 400-500 miles in a day...Colorado onwards etc depending on how many trucks you could only get to do 100 miles..

400 sounds reasonable through the midwest - which would give us something like this for a 7 day on the trail itinerary
Tennessee - 408 miles - Day 1
Mississippi - 303 Miles - Day 2
Arkansas - 433 miles Day 2/3
Oklahoma 674 -miles Day 3/4
New Mexico- 72 miles Day 5

That leaves Apx 2 days slack for whatever or Co to make it to the mountains - which is reasonably safe as far as planning goes - then my plan is to pick up where i leave off and push on the next year.
unknown for me

- Colorado 589 miles

I am thinking from purely personal POV here.

That seems a little ambitious.

Ummmm, yep...

------ Follow up post added December 14th, 2015 10:16 AM ------

It took me 21 days to do the trail from start to finish, and that was on a KTM 640 and I was bookin...and on my own so I didn't have to herd the cats.... or deal with broken land rovers..

Seems like I read somewhere that averaging 200 miles per day was more realistic. I don't recall the source, at this time.

Let's say the group is 10 rovers, I will be surprised if we accomplish 200 mi X day through TN

Shayne ride has to be one of the fastest, and like he said, no trucks and he was squeezing

10 rovers - yeah 200 miles is going to be pushing it - which gives us something like this

Tennessee - 408 miles - Day 1-2
Mississippi - 303 Miles - Day 3-4
Arkansas - 433 miles Day 5-6
Oklahoma 674 -miles Day 7-8-9
New Mexico- 72 miles Day 10..

which fits with my 2 week original estimate to southwest KS.

realistically i see 3 trucks actually doing it.. maybe

I drive from 22201 to 37932 several times a year (parents are in Knoxville), and that distance is 500 miles.

That one-way distance about as much as I would like to drive in a single day on a highway at 70mph.

I am quite familiar with eastern tennessee. I don't know anything about the state west of ORNL. At half highway speeds through fire roads in TN, I imagine Gus's estimate of 200 miles a day is more realistic. In the smokies on a busy day, you'd be lucky to pull 5mph on pavement.
