There were a couple years it was at another park, which was fun to not have to hose the red crap out of your truck for weeks. They just aren't open to rotating between two parks, which is a shame.

Come to VT and get the salt off your chassis...you'll never complain about the red stuff(that's still on some of my pants).

I'm on my 4th year here and have never went to Scarr. I have planned to and even tried to join the local club. They never return messages, Facebook or otherwise. Last year I didn't even try...must be wrong in Tejas to wheel in capris.

They are different......first rover club I ever belonged to and they cured me of ever wanting to be in one again. Cvc and I organized SCARR two years in a row, held it at Hidden Falls, and after all the BS the second year of dealing with them and the event, the majority of us in the Austin chapter left. There is a new crop of chapter newbies here, and a couple older members. I have zero desire to ever attend or be involved again. I don't need them to enjoy my rovers.

Hidden falls is cool for a weekend wheelin break...as long as it's not full up with razors. Discojosh on here told me of a huge private ranch not too far out but the name escapes me. I'll have to ring him up.

We had zero issues despite not closing the park, we know the guys there pretty well. I honestly haven't been wheeling there since Doc passed away a couple years ago. Our daughter loved him dearly and she has difficulty being there.

Ha, I haven't been a member of Texas Rovers for about three years and they still send me emails. They just can't get enough of me!!!

Those were my first two years and they were GREAT. You guys did such a fantastic job and my whole family had a good time. I went to Gilmer two years ago with just my son, it was fun and I had a great time but the drive was pretty far. I would like if they would move it back and forth.

Aww thanks! I remember your whole family and glad they had fun! Gilmer is a bit of drive, we tried to get them to rotate it, but they had zero interest. I used to drive from Kansas City to Barnwell until I moved because it was a fun event, and we even got some East Coasters to roll out a couple times to both Barnwell and Hidden Falls. Sadly as with everything, dynamics change and we parted with helping with the event.

I have recently got the Defender running again and have become active in the Texas Rovers again.
I became active again to off-road the Defender. Chris and Tony are great spotters. You're right that the Austin Chapter is not what it used to be.

I was going to post in the events section before I saw this thread (sorry for the hijack);
Since the Austin events coordinator is out of the country and there is not a formal Austin September meeting, my family is hosting an informal, non-Texas Rovers sanctioned, get together at our house in Cedar Park on Tuesday September 30th. Everyone is welcome to come by with or without their Rover. It is kid friendly. And as it is not a Texas Rovers event, no pressure to join. Contact me for details.

I'd like to find a group to go off-roading with that is knowledgeable about Rovers and knows how to be spot and be safe. The boys are now old enough I feel comfortable taking them off-road. I also enjoy talking about and hearing stories about Rovers. ( Like the old days.)

No worse than the swamp shit I'm still cleaning out of my 110 from The Wilds.

Scarr was a great time last year, and I bet this year will be even better. Better yet I just noticed this will only be a 8 hour drive from my new duty station.

So is it worth the drive/effort to attend or not?

Not too worried about Zach stalking Bill unless Bill adds nitrous and sells Zach his RRC. Would love to finally meet Michael and his family after all these years!! As far as red gooey stuff on the trucks, I thought we had the market cornered on that stuff!!

Seriously, too much politics, trails good/bad, good time??? Lots of miles away, but up for it if a good event.

It was a great time, I didn't really experience any bad attitudes of politics when I was there, just a bunch of people having a great time.
