Made it out just for a Friday session as I had a ton of crap to get done at home today.

Real fun time and met and rode with some very cool people. Thanks to Charles for guiding and spotting. I defintely got thru some stuff more easily after watching him clean it - then he'd pop out of his red 90 and give me spots. Real solid guy to ride trails with. It was great meeting and riding with Frank, Geri and Doug. They are some real cool cats and we had a nice train going thru the park.

Would have loved to ride today and explore more of Rausch. That place is big and has a bunch of terrain for all levels.

I have just a couple of shots (sorry for the crappy photo skills) from the first session of the day. Charles, Frank, Geri/Doug and I split into a smaller crew for an after lunch run. And picked up a burly Toyo 4 Runner that made a lot of things look super easy.

Thank you everyone that came out. Trevor, Robby and myself had a great time.

Ps after review I indeed hit the cone. I will blame it on bad spotting

Had a great time! Thanks to Lucky 8 and Roverlab (Justin, Trevor, and Robby) for putting this on.

I was too busy having fun to take pictures, but did manage to remember to break out the camera and get a few shots of Don.

http://gallery.lhsw.com/rovers_on_the_rocks_2009

This trip made me realize I need to get to Rausch Creek more often. Lots and lots of great trails of all levels. As you can see from Jonathan's shots we had everything from bone stock (and perfect condition) trucks to built up rigs and there was something for everyone.

And a video compilation of my pics:

The videos are still fresh, so it may take a little while for the full YouTube processing.

Doug and I had a great time this weekend. We made it home okay thanks to Justin bending back the steering bar with my hi lift jack My defender also has a throaty growl now because of a exhaust leaks right at the manifold that came about over the course of the weekend

Didn't take many pictures but I'll post what I have

Pics of Heather, Don, Jonathan, Frank, Jill, Dana and more. Also have a pic of the Toyota guy who wheeled with us and ironically had the most troublesome day with his modded four runner?? catching on fire and cutting/burning his hand. Saw him later and he'll be okay after a couple stitches.

Thanks Charles for leading our group, Frank for helping spotting and Don for giving me tips on how to wheel with a manual better. I'm so used to automatic that it will take me some time to master rock crawling!

Friday night dropped down to 25 and really took me out. If I ever camp in November again, I will get a sleeping bag rated better than 40. Took pictures of the frost on my windows. Jill pointed out a glass of water she left out that froze solid!

Thanks Justin and Trevor for having this great event. I bet next year we'll be camping out at a hotel
Jekyl and Hyde woman at Echo Valley is just a little too much

Hope to see you guys sometime soon!

Gery

Ahhhh cool, thought she was Dana's better half but I was meeting a lot of new people in a short period of time. Hope the CDL got sorted.

BTW, that 110 of yours is a beauty! Heavy drool factor watching that thing ride along the ridge when the Toyo had an issue in the woods. Actually seeing all the different rovers lead by Trevor's leafer pickup along the ridge and down that hill was such a sweet sight.

Thanks for the pics - it looks pretty mellow in the shots but I was stressing a bit trying to get down that "V" Your spotting and tips before I went down certainly made it easier. Wish I took more pics myself but like you said too busy having fun.

I agree on getting back to Rausch. And might have found a buddy or 2 in town to go with me next time. Like you said, whatever you are driving will be able to find something to run. If you head back out let me know - from my place in NJ - it could actually be a day trip.

Great vids - bummed I missed Sat - looks like you guys had a blast. Thanks to Trevor for hooking me up with the group and getting us out at a good time on Fri. I feel like I packed a lot in for such a short time.

Where you in the blue 90 that had the spring perch issue?

This thread is worthless without more pictures ! Haven't seen a single picture of a green 110 getting busy.

Thanks for the pics Gery - great rolling with Doug and you. Good to hear that guy in the Toyo will be okay - such a weird cut.

I'm glad my little tip helped out. I learned a bunch from an instructor friend in VT on just a quickie 30 minute tour of an old jeep trail. I have a couple other things I do that may or may not help you. It would be great to do an event with an instructor - you can never learn too much. Combine good driving with our little Rovers and they can actually do a lot. I know I need a bunch more but that's the fun of owning one.

That lady at Echo did seem sketch. I can vouch for the Comfort Inn being pretty decent and it wasn't far at all from the Creek.

Follow-up Post:

Forgot to give much props to Trevor and Justin and anyone else from Roverlab and Lucky 8. Really great event for me even for the short time I was there. Meet a lot of cool Rover people and got to wheel some great terrain.

I know - I went to take more pics but the stick was full. All I can say is that ridge view would have been a sick shot from down below.

That's because it sat in the parking lot at Rausch Creek or the hotel the entire time!
