Don't tell the FCC but my I've heard if I pull out a diode on my radio I'll be able to transmit on the FRS frequencies.
Kevin, sounds good, let's make a plan. My schedule is wide open... I have no commitments other than this event. I don't know what your or Read's schedule is like, but we'll work around that I guess.

All right, lets get down to brass tacks. I'm planning to leave west LA friday around 9am but could delay/advance an hour or so for the sake of the group. Who's in for the caravan? Once we see who else is in and where they're leaving from we can choose a good rally point.

I'll be leaving L.A. around midday Friday, but my departure time is never accurate to within more than +/- 4 hours. So I'll cross paths with all you guys if I'm lucky.

In the meantime, should we choose an FRS/GRMS frequency for the Rover convoys? I'd vote for something in the channel 1-7 range, so both FRS and GRMS radios can use it. How about 7-37?

I can do the FRS but the sub channels may be tough, rather be a straight channel like 7. The sub chanels just prevent you from hearing others (interference), they can still hear you.

I'm leaving with John Gadd and Buddy Jones around 10:00 on Friday. Not sure where we are meeting up, but I will tune in to channel 7 on the FRS. Looking forward to seeing everyone there. Look for me - I'm driving a 97 black D-90 with Roof Rack.

Whats wrong with Trona? I was thinking of buying a house there, if I can find one that hasn't been burnt down yet I generaly dont like going through Trona either but my truck is not too fond of the steep winding grade down to PSR which I am going to be doing a few times this weekend anyway.

Ever sense I saw the "Peacock Family" episode of the X files I get kinda spooked when I drive through that place.

Have you ever taken the old toll road between darwin and PSR?

just had a crazy thought, does anyone want to go up to Mammoth Mtn. Sunday after the event. Camp at the hot springs and go snowboarding (or skiing) on Monday? I would probably head back to LA on Monday after a day on the mountain.

by the way... they just got 22" of new snow

I cant do it but would love to. The powder this weekend is supposed to be extemely light and dry. Staying at the hot springs near Crowley would be fun. Hope you find some takers.
