Arrow Rover Rendezvous 05

I thought there should be more than 20 or so Defenders (my estimate out of 80 total rovers) going to Rover Rendezvous.

Sign up y'all!

Cottonwood will be a nice run. I did it last spring. A good amount of sand to get to the mouth, than lots of rocks on up the canyon... nothing big, just enough to keep you thinking about your line.

As of the Feb 22:
60 Rovers and two runs are full; pleasant canyon and Lookout City.

I'm in. I'll be doing Inyo Crest Sat. Big Four Sunday. I just got back last night from a very quick 2 day 1 night trip to Eureka Valley/ Saline Valley. Lots of snow on the Inyos up by the tram tower. Dont know if we will be able to make it up there by the time the trip comes around. If we cant do the Crest run there are a ton of great trails in the same area that we can do as alternates, Santa Rosa Mine, Bonham Mine Rd. San Lucas Cyn if it is open. Even Lippencot Rd. and back over Hunter Mt.

Here are few pics from yesterday.

Myself and a photographer from the UK are coming over to cover the Rover Rendezvous for LRW Magazine .
We'll be there in a loaned 05 Range Rover from those nice people at LRNA. We asked for an LR3 but looks like we'll have to slum it in the RR...

See ya there.

Kev,

LR3 test woulda been cool. Perhaps LRNA is still trying to convince the market that RRs actually do work on dirt too like the ad says.

We'll look for ya there. It seems like the meet spot for Defender is the MANLY PASS run on Sunday - so hopefully you'll be around.

I also hear it is the most scenic run of them all, and has been improved to include some more great spots.

Wicks

We'd originally booked onto Manly for the Saturday so we could hitch a ride with the more extreme group on Sunday. Just spotted Isham Canyon where "there's a good risk of body damage" is only being run on Saturday so we may have to swap days and run Manly on the Sunday with you guys.

I understand ours will not be the only new RR on the event.

Looking forward to meeting up with you guys. No guarantee that generous offers of free beer will get your pic in the mag, but you never know...

Kev

Kev,

You would be remiss in your responsibility to your readership if you failed to run photos of the only TVR-powered Defender 110 in the world alongside the most tricked-out NAS Croft Defender HT on Planet Earth...

We don't carry beer on the runs, but I'll buy you a couple on Saturday night for grins!

Wow, the event is all booked up!! 100 Rovers in Death Valley in the middle of the brightest spring bloom the desert has seen in 25 years!

Should be terrific. There's been recent showers so the dust level should be tolerable too...

What's the count of D-90 guys attending now? Doug, Wicks, Kev, Arbi?, Kevin, Read, Nigel, David...

Anyone else? Nigel, did you get your confirmation?

Doug W.

I'm in!! I was leading the Lippencot/Racetrack/Hunter Mt loop on Saturday but Randy just told me that Hunter Mt. is closed. I may be leading a alternate trip around the Cerro Gordo area instead. Lots of great exploring to be done in that area, especialy around San Lucas Canyon. I'll be doing Big Four Mine on Sunday. I should be arriving around 4pm on Friday.

I've always wanted to run the Lippencot Rd but I've been solo every time I was in that area of DV. I love that area of DV. These are some of the pics from the last trip to the Racetrack . Looks like once again I will have to wait.

Cerro Gordo sounds like a good substitute. Kevin, thanks for volunteering.

I don't think I'll get out of L.A. much earlier than 5:00 on friday. Any one up for a convoy?

Read,

Great pics from DV. I met the guy with the Unimog in the Saline Valley a few months ago. Did he talk your ear off like he did mine ? I am still up for a trip to the Racetrack on Saturday. Another option is taking Lippencot in and out. We could check out Lippencot Mine and the Racetrack. I let Randy know that I was up for just about anything.

Hey guys,

My buddy Sam (1995 D-90 SW) and myself will be on Jail canyon on saturday, and Manly Pass on sunday! So looks like a bunch of defenders will be on Manly on Sunday. Good picture opportunity.

What's the caravan situation on friday?
I have the day off, so I can go anytime...

See you all on Friday
