More thanks in order. Many. Thanks to mark at RoversNorth and Eric at Atlantic British for sending down raffle items for the rally. Mountain khaki has send in some gift cards, and Will Tillery has joined in support as well. Thanks all around, looking forward to seeing everyone at RAW.

Trail Difficulty Levels

Can anyone give me some details as to the trail types that will be run during this event?

Recently purchased an LR4. Was hoping to come out to the event and meet some people. Get the LR4 a little dirty and start learning about its capabilities off-road. Of course it is still completely stock and I would rather not tear anything up before getting some larger tires and some protection on it. Plus I still don't have very much recovery equipment yet for it.

So what kind of trails are going to be available for a stock LR4?

I'm sure someone with actual experience will chime in, but I would think you'd be able to find something you are comfortable with. In my Experience, when they list 'Scenic Trails' as an option, they are generally very low key, low damage risk trails oriented toward families and stock vehicles..

There will be well defined and varied levels of difficulty. Basically ranging from scenic fire/access roads to winching required. Trail rides will be lead by club members and the groups will be divided by experience and trucks abilities and what the owners want to get into. Come with no worries.

Yea, I figured these were pretty tame, probably most gravel/dirt path. I would like to take it on something "Scenic" to "Moderate" as long as there is opportunity on the Moderate for a by-pass if it isn't up to the task.

I will say I have off-roaded before and that was in a 2013 JKUR with 3.5" of lift and 35's. Done Shoe Creek and Potts Mountain as well as Rausch Creek in that vehicle.

Just looking to start learning the capabilities of the LR4.

The resort is on top of a mountain so you can stay @ the lodge or rent a condo etc, not a lot of other options in the area. My farm is nearby so won't be staying @ Wintergreen.

The Richmond Dealership will be bring a small group of customers with new and shiny Rovers to our event. We have cleared a sub-set of trails with this customer group in mind.

There are also trails that Boggs and Bang got too stuck and frustrated on and simply turned back last weekend.

So the range is pretty well covered.

Is the Richmond Dealership group doing the entire event or only Saturday?

I have a buddy coming from Fla. with his family and a LR4 to do some trails. Of course...I have heard some stories about him and wheeling his truck....

I think most of the dealership employees are heading down Friday and leaving after the trail ride on Saturday. I'm not sure what the customers are doing, but if I had to guess, probably just Saturday. I'm heading there Friday after work, but I don't know what time I'll head back to Richmond on Saturday.

Is it possible for me to join the Richmond Customer group?

My Roverfarm is even closer than you Doug, but I'm staying in a slopeside Condo!

Yes, we got stuck a few times Saturday and had to winch.

Yes, there are trails where no damage will occur- Mr Short removed all the overhanging sticker bushes.

And Yes, there will even be skiing/snowboarding on Saturday April 5!

Last year, the dealership portion was only for dealership customers but some regular club members rode the same trail/same time at the tail end of the dealer group.

That's what I figured, wish my dealership had people going.

Not sure we are going to be able to do the full weekend. Was hoping just a trip up on Sat. would work but seems like from the information this won't work as registration is only on Friday evening.

Send Firemanshort a message- he may know how/if you can just register early Saturday.

If it were up to me I would say yes, but I'm just a lowly a technician, so I don't really know many details. You could always call the dealership and ask, the worst they can say is no.

Reminder: Today is the last day to register and guarantee a T-Shirt.
Registrations will continue to be accepted next week but only a limited number of t-shirts will be available at a first come - first served basis.

www.roav.org

Also - please make sure that you register your hotel room separately with the Wintergreen Lodge. For those that are interested - it appears that ski slopes will remain open that weekend if anyone wants to combine their hobbies.
