dumb question... Do we need camp chairs and stuff? Since we're in a hotel...
I guess I'm thinking this is a bring your hotel bag only and whatever you need on the trail trip.. Right?

You can bring a camp chair for when you take a break on the trails.

You will not need a camp chair back at the hotel unless you want to go for a nature hike. The back deck has picnic tables and we are inside at the meeting facility for dinner.

(Bring chairs to MAR.)

Have there been any room cancellations that anyone knows of? I'd like to go but I'm being told the resort is booked solid. I was reluctant to book earlier since I've been dealing with the crud since Uwharrie.

Looking forward to attending this event on Saturday. I will be the one with the wad of cash trying to buy someone's RRC that they are ready to dump once the trails break them in!

There is plenty of room at the inn. With ski season closed out - the place has a very slow op-tempo at the moment.

I was told by Sarah that all rooms were booked. Who should I talk to to get in?

I know, right? I'm down with that as long as there is WiFi and a coffee maker.

Ugh..... I just did some checking. The ROAV Group Reservation closed out a few days ago. So, technically, there are no more rooms on our reservation. However the place is hardly full. I just checked at the front desk and they have plenty of studios, one and two bed room condos and larger properties for rent. You just did not ask Sarah the reservation operator the right questions.

I will work with the ROAV President and the hotel tomorrow during business hours to see if we can get the club group reservation turned back on. Call back about midday if you can and see what you can book. Regardless - there are room available and you should be able to make a reservation - just not an ROAV reservation.

Great, I'll give them a call in the morning before leaving. I have a 5 hour drive ahead of me.

The area is known for its breweries.
Devils Back Bone is @ the bottom of the mountain and was just bought by Andheuser Busch for 349 million.
Hard Rock Cider is across the road from Devils Back Bone, Wild Wolf is just down the road about a mile. Blue Mountain is down the road a few miles in Afton. My favorite is Wild Wolf, probably grab dinner there tonight

We met with Hotel folks and sorted out the room deal. ROAV discounted room rates are still available.
