He went down in high range hence the brake failure. Also you LR3/4 guys get your TC shit together as well, we had one of those fubar's on that same trail at the same time I think as well. The trails are more of a loose loamy type soil with rocks mixed in not the hard pack of Uwharrie. A lot of fun with plenty of tires clawing for traction.

Same time, same trail. Disco brakes let go, LR4 tried to roll. Good times had by all!

And a total lack of fluid maintenance. The brake fluid was very dark and had probably never been changed.

The trail that the previous posts have been talking about lives up to its reputation. I ran it a few weeks ago during a work weekend and the winter weather has changed it - no better / no worse - so it should be the same and a little different for the folks that came last year.

Like Bang / Nomar suggested, the are a few new trails open with some great seat pucker / elevation changes. ... And then there is that corner that everyone had to winch up and around. So it is different than the hard pack and rocks of Uwharrie but not without its own challenges.

Naturally , we have trails that are less severe but still lots of fun for those with nicer and newer rigs that are a bit risk adverse.

------ Follow up post added April 12th, 2016 09:23 AM ------ .... Oh, one more administrative item .... I made up the registration packets yesterday. We are officially out of medium t-shirts but we are still getting folks registering this week / last minute. If you register and want a medium t-shirt, you can either go out and eat a few extra sandwiches so you will fit a large, wear a small and go for the Jason England crop tee look, or we can see if we can mail order you one after the event.

I will take a small and someone can have my medium shirt. The ROAV site doesn't let you chose small.

I can not believe we (by "we" I mean "I") did not include "small" as a choice. I wondered why nobody wanted one in that size.

In any event - at the 11th hour - you can now buy "small" t-shirts.

Pulling out of FBurg around 1000 tomorrow (meeting at wawa, exit 130 off 95). Headed out Rt 3 to 20. If anyone else is on the road as well. Plan is to stop for lunch prior to heading up the mountain.

I am at Wintergreen.

Weather is amazing. I think I will take my top off.

We are wheeling all day tomorrow - starting at 9am for the early birds. We have a small bit of trail repair to knock out I am told. We will hit it again in the afternoon for the second shift and again in the evening for a scenic easy ride.

We will be working on "Land Rover Time" so everything is an estimate - but I figure we will be back at the lodge for lunch and then back out on the trails near 1pm or 2pm.
