Anyone camping? I stay in hotel rooms 100+ nights per year, would like to be outside.

There is no on site camping.
Closest campsite is Sherando Lake in the GWNF.

Matt the rooms are more like a ski lodge with a loft and a kitchen definitely not a Motel 6 type deal.

Schedule of Events

We will get a more detailed schedule of events out probably on Monday (April 11). We will make sure it gets sent to everyone that has registered and posted to the ROAV website (roav)

The hotel is always open - so you can show up whenever you make your hotel reservations for.

We will probably have a group go out on Friday afternoon between 12p and 5p. We will need to check all of the trails since it has been a few weeks since we last ran them and there has been a H U G E amount if wind since then and there may be trees down across the trails (hopefully not too much).

Official registration will probably open up on Friday afternoon and evening.

We will probably take a group out for an easy and short run from 6p to 7p ~ 'ish.

Saturday is when the time when the bulk of the drivers will be present and on the trails. We will have breakfast, drivers meeting (15 mins) and then to divide into groups / skill levels for various trail rides. Most groups will likely come back at lunch and then go back out. There may be an all day diehard group depending on level of interest.

Saturday night will have a happy hour and dinner and prize give-away.

Sunday will have a light breakfast and a short morning trail ride.

Most folks are gone by noon time (+ or -).

Hopefully this helps with attendee long range planning.

Register Early for a Hat

For all you out there that are waiting to register - here is a little extra incentive to sign up early.

Our title sponsor, Land Rover Richmond has given us event specific hats to give away to the first 50 folks to register. For those that registered early - you are covered - and we still have a few hats left to cover you late-bloomers.

In addition to the hats, we will have give-aways from our other sponsors to inlcude:
  • Rovers North
  • Atlantic British
  • Bill Burke
  • Overland Journal
  • Lucky 8
  • Rovaguy / Will Tillery

We already have over 14 Defenders registered as well as a good mix of new and old other models. Head over to roav and add your truck to the event registration list!

Tight trails(trees), some rocks(no problem if you have diff guards), a few insanely steep descents....

Oh, then no problem when thinking about say the front side of Daniel trail..
Or my nemesis Dickie bell with rock pockets (before I was on 33's )

I would rate everything at WTG as easier than Dickie Bell.
But, that's not to say there arent some really fun, technical sections.
And, if you dont know how to steer and descend really steep trails....you will bite the trees.

Rob - no worries at all at RAW...there are some tight trees, but not much like Jeff said. Only caveat - if it rains bring a change of undies

I just did my front brakes including callipers in preparation for this!

Two years ago one guy boiled his brake fluid and lost brakes on that really long decent that is over the pipeline (I think).

Right now the weather is predicted to be dry, and in the low 60's.
That will aid traction.

There will still be a few muddy, sloppy sections possibly....this is a ski mountain after all!
