ah, thought you had a diesel rig. And forgot about the sand part. Sounds like you guys figured it out pretty good. Love the old-timers at the parts stores. Younger kid would have been WTF?

Great pictures and if I ever get my blue 3 door together could be a fun trip down with a kid or 2. How did RD's white 3 door do? Does it still have OM617 power?

70+ MPH, walked the soft sand beach in high range, towed Uncle Richard around, and might have made it on one tank, but I added 8 gallons and arrived home with about half a tank.

Nice! Like the 70+ MPH after driving my 2 point barely alive 5 around lately.

What a great weekend! Let's put it this way, I loaded up 3 teenage girls (and all their crapola!) in the Ford with the 110 on a trailer and hauled ass 850+ miles to a beach in NC when I live just a few miles from some of the most beautiful beaches in Florida and I would do it all again next weekend if I had the time. At a Burger King stop.

I'd go as long as I don't have to look at man boobs. Could we get some T shirts made?

We ate loin steaks, rack of lamb, chicken snack, sliced browned red potatoes with grilled caramelized white onions from the local produce stand, some dirty rice dish with beans, string beans, fresh white corn, grilled sausages, and grilled chicken. The only thing missing was more fruits and veggies which I thought someone else was bringing. The steak and lamb was so good you had to sit down to eat it.

Our next door neighbors asked if we were chefs in real life. Turned out they own a D2 and are joining us at Expo East.

Perhaps a NOVA/MD contingent joining Newman on the way down?

They were hardly noticeable... You should come as well and if you are so inclined pass out shirts in between reeling in fish.

That was the best of the ones taken at the time.
You should have seen the really bad ones that didn't get posted.

This handsome stranger showed up out of nowhere during one of the squalls on Friday saying something about canned peaches.

I had to catch the next ferry so I got some of the crew heading over. That was the view from our cabin.

I don't see any pelican cases, freshly waxed jerry cans, or Snow Peak gear. I call BS.

We had 2 or 3 beers left that we put into the Bobby care package box of left over provisions to help him through the next several days.

I am glad Robert Davis followed up that post about no-beer. I saw that you left a man behind because he wanted to stay longer - but I thought leaving a man behind with no beer - that is just cruel (or shows poor overland planning). The care package shows .... well it shows that you really care.

Great photos Raub.

There is a large pelican and two of the od Pelican night vision goggle cases I gave him in there. My brother is the snow peak guy in the group.

Bobby's beer stash was separate from the rest of us. He brought 2 cases just for himself. As he put it to me "I brought a weeks worth of food and a weeks worth of beer so I'm staying".
