Hi Josh. I have to work on Sat morning. I originally was going to be finished at 2:00, hence the meeting time of 4:00 in Government camp. However, today I was able to negotiate an earlier departure of 12:00. That means that we could change the meeting time to 2:00 if that worked for everyone else. That would give us more time to explore, and set up camp during the daylight. Thoughts from crew?

I'm open to whatever! I'm just glad it's not another person dropping out!

Oh... this is next Saturday... not tomorrow. Then I have plenty of time to get ready and can meet at any time.

2 sounds good for me. And of course your welcome Josh. So 2pm rest area at Government camp it is. This will be the first time my new to me Defender sees off pavement. And sadly at least a year and half since I camped last. I am rusty. Still trying to find all the camping gear from our house move.

Just looked at the weather for Government Camp... if the forecast holds it will be snowing on Saturday the 21st. Does that change anything?

Probably! It'll certainly separate the men from the boys. I hate to say it, but I might be "boy-ing" out in this regard. I got a busted fuel pump that was causing all my starting issues. If I can get back up their in time to get the new one installed, then I'll throw caution to the wind and head out with you all on outdated technology with unproven quality! But then again, that's a daily decision! ;-)

I've been wanting to camp in the snow!!

I'm keeping a quick drive up there as an open option for me on Saturday -- it is less than an hour from home. But I can't stay the night or anything too long. Just way too much to do to get prepared for our trip to Grand Canyon.

The East end of the Barlow is fairly low elevation (planned camp area is approx 2200').very unlikely that we will see snow...the West end how ever is a different story. It is around 4000' and could be snow covered. Plan for cold and wet. We will be closer to Tygh Valley which is on the dry side of the mountain. We may get lucky and have a dry evening on Saturday. I am planning on going regardless of the weather conditions.

I am also going either way. If we let snow or rain stop us, we would never do anything.

I am also planning on going no matter what Mother Nature has to offer. I a, hoping someone has a chainsaw or something to cut firewood for a fire. We are going to need it. Or we may just have to all huddle in a 110 or get real cozy in a 90.

Wait, the heater actually works in your 110?

All:

Kathryn & I will be headed from Portland along I-84 on Sunday morning. We'll likely stop in Hood River for lunch. If you guys are going to be there, can someone PM me?

Thanks,

Paul.

I'm still in regardless of weather. I have a buddy heater.... I just need to remember to get some propane.

I always enjoy lunch in hood river and prefer 35 to 26, I'll have to check with my copilot if we can get ready in time.
