If you havn't been to it, Hood River has a real cool air-auto museum www.waaamuseum.org which is well worth the time.

Happy Birthday! It's a good day to not be in Portland, to be on that side of the mountains.

Josh and I were scheming today... if all goes to plan both his NAS and my ROW trucks will make an appearance. We decided it was better to have our own trucks up in Portland for our extended stay instead of some crap rental car.

Great! We could look at doing a dirt road or two on our Gorge Day Trip. Also, PCRC may go off-roading in February some time I think.

Olallie Scenic Area

I have another suggestion for a day trip. About 90 minutes from Portland there's a beautiful lake at 5000 feet altitude called Olallie Lake. I did the trip years ago and I have always wanted to go back since then. You can do a loop where there is a "primitive" road leading up to the lake, stop for lunch and then you can take a more civilized road back. We just have to check what the snow levels are and what the conditions are leading up to the lake. It's a very scenic, somewhat remote and just the right amount of adventure. Worth the trip.

Olallie at 5000' most likely will have snow until march sometime...how much is a whole other story and that may be half the fun! The PCRC annual meeting is in February at the Centralia fairgrounds.

A good day is a meet on the east side, say Edgefield, go to Crown Pt, vista hyw, Hood River, south to Barlow Trail, or Lolo Pass Rd. and back.
Days are still short to get carried away, and starting out west of Portland adds time you won't have.

Sounds like a great plan. You should come along Doug! My friend who is a gearhead and superstar photographer also wants to come along.

Something tells me my 110 will be too slow to keep up. I'll need a date too, so I can get out ahead of you all.

Doug's idea is a good one.
