Well, I'm out...going upstate for a few weeks or wheeling, you boys have fun at RC/Paragon...

Jorge, you didn't call me back, I'm assuming you got your tires mounted up. Call me early in the morning if you need it done.

I'll meet who ever shows up at Paragon Sat morning. Will be in a Freelander so my offer to run mild trails with anyone not wanting to get rougher will still be open for Sat & Sun. Looks like this will be my last time to wheel here for a while before I move.

How about 9-9:30 at the gas station, if you get there late call or go to the office! I'll make sure those already there and camping know this.

PeterB and I will be at RedRidge Fri evening, and ready for Paragon on Saturday morning.

Peter's bringing a gwagen, I have a D1 on 32's, no lockers, so intermediate trails for me.

I'm looking forward to meeting some of you guys.

Just got home. Great time. I will post some pics later. I think everyone did well except Jimmy. His Fuel pump in the 90 crapped out and they were looking for a replacement.

Not to poor salt on an open wound, BUT... Jimmy seemed to also have bad luck the day before at RC when his driver side front tire popped off the rim in a mud hole... It ONLY took us an hour to get the tire off the ground so we could pop the tire back on the rim with the air tank. Sorry Jimmy couldn’t resist! lol

All kidding aside, it was great to meet everyone and checking out your rigs! Randy, your D-90 looks amazing and to boot, it laughed at all the trails.

Lets go again soon...

I'm happy to report that Jimmy did just fine today. The only thing that stopped him was trying to get back onto the trailer!

I have no pics (forgot my camera) but yep we did get Jimmy's new pump in Saturday night and hit some good trails Sunday. Randy' 90 is awesome! It was great riding around in it even without a dash The TDi sounds GREAT, we'll have to get it a little dirtier next time! Oh anyone going to Paragon it is easier to use the force when navigating then trying to use the map! George that mud hole trip was great! Sorry we lost you guys switching trails, it's not like we really knew where we were either Ken bummer you had to leave so soon after running only a few trails, but those girls can get really sick of the heat .

Then Sunday I road around in some guys freelander for a little while and I got to meet John C and Adrian finally! The Freeloader didn't do to bad other then getting cross axled real easily but then that might have been driver error .

But then our luck went south on the way home, at about 8 pm in NY a passing by car pointed out that something was dragging on the ground, we pulled over to find the electrical connector to the trailer fell out and the wire and plug got messed up. So we found a Wal-mart and bought some parts to try and fix it. At 10:30 we still had not fixed it and were blowing fuses so we turned the Defenders park lights on the trailer and hit the road at reduced speed, we ended up at home at 3am or so.

Good meeting new some new faces, and good too see some again!

IT was great meeting a few new faces on Saturday. Oh and Mike you are a great co-pilot. Use THe Force Mike...... lol.. It must be the only way.

Jimmy THanks for the great deal on the tank and the fillup at the camp site. Hope to wheel with you next time.

Note... always bring a lot of water and keep cool or your tounge will turn purple and you will pass out in a stream...

I don't know why he wouldn't let me 'nudge' him over a few of the rocks (Jimmy-John in the black Rangie).

hehehe... we tried to warn you guys that i was going to be slow going through the rocks.

I was pretty happy with how it did. Adjusting to the completely different driving style was the biggest throw for me and adjusting ones thinking that the lines and driving style you get used to with the larger Rovers are not handled the same with the Freelander. With a slight planning ahead and a variation in the line you take would greatly reduce the amount of "cross-axle" stops I had.

After 2 days of getting used to it, I would say the biggest improvements to make it more capable in the rougher stuff would be to figure out how get the ETC earlier or to be able to manually kick on when you want to or find some kind of lockers. But this is most likely better discussed over on MuddyOval.
