Did the one in McLean have a MD plate on it?

dropping the driveshafts on Jim's 101 was awesome. just sat cross legged under it and had plenty of room to work i got the tool years ago for somewhere around $20 or less. i like using it, but it always seems to be mia when i need it, so usually just 9/16 socket, extension and open ended wrench works.

Dave, the factory manual se's to tighten the d/s nuts to 14 foot lbs, must of us just tigh 'em 'till
they stop.
I made my own tool by taking a 9/16 3/8 drive impact socket, I cut a 1/4 inch from the top at the drive side. then I took a 6inch 3/8 drive impact extension and put both on a bench viseto keep em straight and force them into each other..... I proceeded to weld the socket and the extension with a mig welder once the weld was complete I cooled the metals with lathe oil.
last but not least I took the weld/mate end of socket and extension and ground on a grinding wheel until nearly flush with each other while at the same time taking care not to heat the weld and measuring for fit. it has been in use for about 3 years it has been used at lest 50 times and knock on wood it has not failed.....
even the "certified" guys at work have requested to use it on many occasions.
I am curious to compare it to the original sold at mar to see the strengths and the weak points as well as to compare the size it self I think mine came out thinner.

Depending on what day everyone can agree on I may be able to make it.. Only day I know for sure I can't do is Friday nights for the next couple of months. Every other day is wife and kid sitter dependent as always.

I'll be in town next weekend starting Friday, the 18th. What about a Saturday night fiasco?

Go ahead and have it on Thursday, I may even be able to make it Thursday night.

I have a feeling that trying to convince the wife that spending a few hours drinking with the boys is worthy of slacking off from the real reason we are going back to NoVA, and that is to paint, patch and prep for selling our place.
