The kids and I had a blast. The natural beauty of the area and the trails all over the place made for an awesome event. We are still drying out .

thanks Eric, Carlane, et al. for a great event. couldn't think of a better way to spend my first real wheeling experience in the Northeast. Mud, rocks, and rain made for something much different than the deserts and mountains of Southern California.

amazing to see so many series and early 90/110s on the trail.

We too just got back from an awesome week. A huge thanks to Ren for bringing me an alternator today

Ditto on the thanks to Eric & Carlane, Adam, Kevin, etc. It was a great time and always nice to help out a good cause at the same time.

Trip stats in brief: 1 D90, family of 4, 7 days, 1800 miles, 12 states (including all 7 NE states), met several forum members for the first time, great scenery, great wheeling, umpteen unforgettable memories.

I'll gets some pictures up along with some POV video when I get settled.

your welcome I'm glad you had a good time hopefully next year we can talk a couple of our west coast mutual friends into flying out for it.

Eric

Follow-up Post:

Well Charles made it home and he was the last broken down truck I knew of so it looks like all trucks made it home and only one needed AAA to get the last 50 miles there.

Thanks to all who came the kids should get 4-6 months of off site trips out of the money we raised. The town I live in is economically challenged to say the least. The medium family income was $26,000 in or around 2002 it hasn't got better in this economy. For lots of the kids mom and dad work 2-3 jobs just to survive and keep a roof over their families head. The youth center is a "home" where adults are there and care and hopefully can keep the kids focused and out of trouble. The youth center director was shocked by how nice the "Rover" guys were and how the stories of broken trucks flowed but everyone was still happy. She was happy to talk to you and you actually understood what she is trying to do.

I am hoping that next year we can do it again and maybe if everything goes right it will be bigger and we can cover more months of their trips or raise enough where even more kids can be involved.

If you bought a Tee shirt remember to thank CubeII on D-90 since he donated the artwork. It was a great gesture and one that I will not forget. I will be advertising what we have left for shirts so anyone that wants one I can ship it to you they are $20.00 each and I will cover the shipping costs.

That little camera is so Cool Charles. Is it image stabilized? I'd love to see the Sunday footage and hear the details of the camera again since I didn't write it down.

More from the Sunday run I was on starring Kevin's truck.

I have more footage of trails similar to this from Sunday. Ignore the sunday2 one up there - it appears I posted a chunk I had meant to edit out. I'll post once I get the real deal up.

Kevin, the camera is a GoPro Hero with a wide/fisheye lens. I am not sure what the normal lens looks like but it might be worth getting instead.

Follow-up Post:

Oh yeah and the truck does smooth it out nicely, but that section of the trail was a lot easier than the first 2/3rds. Like a regular camera it doesn't convey the steepness etc like reality either.
