If you have a gps coordinate for the trail head that would be great. Or if the directions are from the Rt29 side I could use them, thanks.

Directions are the basically the same. I don't recommend the 29 south route. But whatever. I'll get them to you this evening.

Thanks. I usually go down 81 but go rt29 when going to the Shenandoah and it's a much more pleasant drive. I'll route both ways and see though. But do let me know how you recommend going. I'm interested in running both trails up hill.

thanks,
charles

Not sure if i am going to make it....but....right before you get to the shoe creek trail, or just after coming down the trail, there is a house and an area where the land opens up for a short bit. I was told the guy that owns the property is crazy and known to appear with a shotgun. So, we were informed to get our caravan close together and speed by his house. When we did this, I kid you not....it smelled like serious shotgun/gunpowder as we were going by.

This was my fist time there, so not sure how true it is, or if anyone else can confirm this or not.

Damn, this sounds like just what I need to convince me not to sell the truck. Might have to make this happen!

No, sorry. OCC does a 101/201 course that weekend so if I can get out, I'll be going to that.

That sucks. I think we will stick with those dates anyway based on the responses.

I'll post a copy of the trip report once I write it, but here are pictures from Saturday. We got a late start and it turned into a long day but had a great time. We started with 4 trucks (2 rovers) but lost Pedro shortly after hitting Shoe creek due to overheating, took a short excursion to crabtree falls, then ran big levels.

Brakes are fixed on the disco, so I'm likely in as well.

Awesome! Sounds like a decent sized group.

Mark your calendars: The 1st Annual Mostly Metro Land Rover Trail Ride, July 17th 2010. This will be a family friend event with a caravan from the DC area to the trails, with a stop for a picnic lunch (potluck???) along the trail. Trails will be mostly mild with some optional medium stuff. I am not sure on the destination yet, and that can be a topic for the remainder of the thread. Thoughts?

I'd like to do this too, I think.

So, Tony, Glad to hear it! WTH was the problem?
