Maybe Dave and I will be at Col Brooks and see who else shows up.

Legislation Post 1531, gave you the Right of First Refusal... I seconded with Motion Post 1532.

I don't, I'll not bring cheese for all your whining about NoVA traffic...

But know that I think about it.... Whatever the Honorable Lord Goose desides is LAW... dodged the bullet.

Well, hold on a second here. There is no law saying we can only have one happy hour.

It is a little disconcerting that very few of the DC/Arlington crowd have even made an effort since we left Jay's. I know that some had other stuff going on and not complaining about the turn out as we have had a solid 10 +/- at the past two happy hours but just an observation. If we move the happy hour back to the heart of Arlington or the middle of DC is that going to bring a solid commitment out of more people or just further inconvenience the ones who actually show up on a regular basis?

Umm, there have been exactly two non-Jay's happy hours. Don't freak out.

If we are still counting votes.....

Public House #7 was OK but I agree with the not-dive enough comments posted above.

Plus - I really hate Seven Corners. That intersection makes me whine about traffic like our favourite Marylander.

So my vote is "not really" for PH#7.

But, I am all about keeping the quest alive and trying new places.

not freaking out...just pointing out some obvious points that others seem to either overlook or don't want to state. The quest for a new location has become more of a "what's convenient for me" rather than a "where would be a good place for us to call home" for future happy hours. At the end of the day, some folks are going to have to drive which I personally do not care about but I commute 100 miles a day for work so probably not a good indicator. It seems like instead of asking for suggestions on bars we should be asking everyone to list how far they are willing to drive to hang out

Driving and traffic are certainly considerations but not deal breakers. We seek the intangible, the nondescript and the je ne sais quois in a meeting place. Thing is, that when you ask a group what they want to do, you get a group of different answers.
The geography thing is a tough call since some will travel a little and some will travel a lot. There is no preferred location because there are people coming from Maryland Virginia and DC. No matter where we have it it will suck for somebody.
So far the bars in Virginia have all been yawners as far as I can tell from the post mortems. Granted I didn't check them myself, but so far there hasn't been a consensus. I guess that means we're still looking.
In the 16 years I have been in and around the DC Rover "scene" there has been an ebb and flow of interest. Right now it seems to be ebbing due to the displeasure toward Jay's and the natural summertime diaspora. If a new regular joint isn't named soon, I fear that the HH thing will just fall apart.

Bill:

I like to drink. Based on that I'll keep HH going as long as possible.

(note: I will actually be gone July & August, so that said my liver will not be a factor until September).

I realize you haven't been to the last few happy hours, but even just reading here it should be pretty clear that

1. We are intentionally attempting to look at multiple potential establishments to make sure we don't make an uninformed decision, even though
2. Kilroys was very well received by everyone who went and we'd all happily go back.

You'll notice Gustavo even wants to go back there and he has to drive further than anyone.

I am perfectly happy to go back to Kilroys, but I fear this will signal the end of the search (which I am fine with) but I don't think trying new spots for a few more times (incl Col Brooks) is a bad idea.

I in no way see how HH is going to fall apart because we are trying new places. If anything it is invigorating the crowd, but again it might be a "you have to be there" kind of thing .

I don't think HH will fall apart either, just the "Northern Virginia" aspect of it. It may migrate to DC or Maryland.

Are we having the same conversation? I'm not sure how you come to this conclusion. If you are saying that the few folks that come to happy hour from DC and Maryland (who else other than you, Dave and GUstavo?) are going to start having your own happy hours, I can appreciate that.

As I'm sure you are all aware, I have family issues which sometimes keep me away from Happy Hour. Not because I am disinterested, lazy or otherwise being a douche.

Is Anthony still at Chef Geoff's? I remember that place used to be an AU hangout and "border bar" back in the 80's. I seem to remember it was called Mr Henry's or something. Having hurled in the parking lot once or twice in my youth, I think it's not too hard to get there. Off Whisky Ave.

I don't care as long as you're buying
Sure as long as the following conditions apply:

A - you shave your legs
B - wear the pink TuTu one more time
C - promise not to bitch all night when the boys are talking about Rovers

*ROTFLMAO*
