Mango Mike's sucks. Honestly, I think you want to talk about the changing of the Jay's location just to drive me crazy.

what about the quarter deck as a potential future hang out when jay's flops?
still in arlington, a bit lower than jay's on the standard scale, plenty of street parking, out of the way of traffic in a corner and no noisy fire trucks and ambulances every 5 minutes... just a suggestion.

I have suggested the Quarterdeck many times and we even held one HH there. Someone here said it closed, but everything I have checked says it's still open. They supposedly lost their lease, but everything got smoothed out.

Quarterdeck it is!

Ahah, it was Lavender spreading bad info.

According to Yelp, the Quarterdeck is still open: http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-quarterdeck-arlington

this just me being selfish, but all good things must come to an end. when jay's finally goes down and we decide to move, I find it easier to be able to make it to a place in va..(since I travel to catlett, va almost daily) so further out north and I may have to become one of the less regular attendees.
just my .02 of selfish for the day.....

Quarterdeck has almost shut down twice in the last 3 years -- first when the land around them got redeveloped, then a few months ago when the lease got challenged. It's still there, they have relatively good crabs and the beers are cheap. Parking up there sucks royally though.

Lotta panties all in a bunch up in this here thread. Give it a rest you all aren't leaving Jays.

But I will take Goose's idea about an additional HH in MD and run with t. Shooting for Frederick since I know a few GMs and owners that might swing a deal or help with reserved parking downtown,

Also google search valley grill sports bar @ hollow creek in Middletown, there's ample parking and around 27 flat screens, not to mention young tail and cougars aplenty.

Maybe first thursday of the month so those who would like to attend both have a week of between each.

I'll post a new thread once I figure it out.

So to those who are wondering where I've been, life has tied me up with a new puppy, attempting to buy a house, and my own foolishness of driving a long bolt in a short bolt hole through my tranny therein seizing my gears. Now that the D1 is up and running I should be less of a ghost on here.

Though I'd be lying if I didn't say I fully expected to come back to Pedro with a working truck finally. Alas, the world still turns.

Goose- call me about airbox and MDHH
Pedro- call me, I'll try to not have my phone on silent.
Jeff- still need lugs?

Are you serious... were you paying any attention at HH last time??? the windows are so yesterday... they've been fixed for a LONG time.

Now the truck is on jack-stands waiting for me to get the suspension.

Unhappy Leaving Jays?

NOVA Group -

I hate to add to the discussion and mayhem about leaving Jay's - but I discoverd something this week that makes the decision to leave seem inevitable.

As I was flipping through this month's issue of Northern Virginia Magazine - the one with the cover feature for the 99.5 Kane Radio Show - I found a short side bar article about restaurants in Arlington. They had a short profile about Jay's and some quotes from the owner. She indicated that the building that Jays was located in was up for sale and that the bar would close sometime in 2011.

I like Jay's and think that its beer selection and menu sort the motley crew that we are. I believe the quality of the wait-staff has been covered in previous posts. (It just needs a biger parking lot!) If Jay's is going to close sometime this year then I think that the D-90 NOVA HH needs to be the group that closes it down - to the bitter end.

David, a man after my own heart...someone had likewise posted that Jay's may be closing at some point (article here: http://www.arlnow.com/2011/03/25/the-last-days-of-jays/). However, since there are no immediate plans for development once Jay's lease is up hopefully they can go month-to-month for awhile, but it's only delaying the inevitable. BUT I agree 100%...we'll start scoping viable alternatives (only criteria are "dive bar" and "decent parking"), and riding it out to the very end is a MUST!
