Im not too keen on going to happy hour and driving with an expired registration. Although, I live a block away and can stumble home.
If you still have the plates from your Disco, by law, you are allowed to place them on your vehicle and take 30 days to do the legal transfer , as long as you carry the Bill of Sale with your old reg card and the insurance card showing the Defender

Kevin:

Along these lines, most importantly (as a CYA) make sure you call your insurance company IMMEDIATELY to get the new ride on your policy - they can probably even email/fax you temp insurance info. While the reg as Goose points out above is no problem, you don't want to get in an accident with no insurance.

Not sure if I'll be there Thurs or not, will keep you all posted.

Speaking of insurance...I am glad I took care of that before I picked it up. The guy I bought the d90 from just bought one of those nice toyota 4 door pickups (tacoma i think), and was telling me it had a few hundred miles on it and was stolen Sunday night from outside his house. I am wondering why they didnt take the defender. I was going to leave it parked at his place until all the paperwork is done, but I decided not to risk it.

And Jason, he lives in Old Town- Jefferson Street. Not sure how far that is from you.

Pedro, I was joking...using it as an outlandish example of the things I have claimed in the past while intoxicated. Just ask any of the girls I used to hit on in my single life: hot air baloon operator, racecar driver, documentary film maker, professional yodeler, bounty hunter...or my all-time favorite, "I'm unemployed and I live with my parents". Ironically, that last one used to work the best.

It looks as if I willmake it after all, funeral arrangements are for tomorrow noon service is a 11 all in nc.. so technically I shoud be arriving in the dc area around midnight tomorrow some 18 hrs before final hh and opening of the presents.
speaking of opening. the shop is coming along well we are in, lifts are in, waiting on utilities all should have been installed today.
alarm people will be in later in the week. all permits have been approved, waitng on final inspection by firemarshall
in order to get stamp of occupancy.
if all goes well we should be openning a week from friday.
