Question

Does anyone know what the hoses are (below) that are attached to the rocker covers?

Those breather tubes route from the valve covers to the intake system. They are part of the positive crankcase ventilation.

It looks like you have installed (or are installing) the 4 barrel carb. Nice move.

The factory hoses are pre-shaped to meet the side draft carbs that you no longer have.

These hoses can be replaced with generic auto parts store hose and a "T". Start from the "flame / oil trap" part and move forward with the generic hose from both sides and join them at the rear of the intake manifold with the "T". From the "T", you can add a short length of hose that plugs into the bottom of the air cleaner.

Hopefully - that makes sense.

Wow. Thank you. It does, but it doesn't. The new hose, etc makes sense, but not where I connect it.

On that note, any recommendations on an Air Cleaner? I swapped the old manifold/carb for Edelbrock 2298/1404. Need a new air cleaner. Then, maybe the "where it connects" part will make sense to me!

Thanks again.

So - now that site is not broke....

The first photo shows the routing of the hoses and the "T". The second photo shows my standard Edelbrock air cleaner.

I just happen to have a motor available to take good photos of....

Makes more sense now. Thanks! I think my lack of basic knowledge I this area means I need picture books!

Any advice on which air cleaners fit/are best?

Thanks again.

I there a way to incorporate the original 3.5 air canister with the Holley carb? Seems like I've seen it done somewhere.

Believe it or not, we're now less than 2 weeks out from the next scheduled HH on the 16th. In Feb, Winterfest was a direct conflict. Had we discussed in advance, might have made since to slip a week. I realize we'll never have everyone there at once, but we may be able to make adjustments in time to allow others to plan to attend. Are there any known major conflicts with the 16th?

I'm looking good for this one; and in case I forget someone remind me to announce the Twin Mountain Rover open house the weekend after RAW (aka the weekend after Easter for those that can't hit Wintergreen).

RAW Work Weekend next Saturday.

Anyone interested in staying on property the night before is welcome to bring a sleeping bag and hit a bunk at my place.
