Congrats Clay . . .

Got a bit done, but not all I wanted. Exhaust, brakes bleed, motor mounts corrected.

Still need to figure out the Vdo speedometer.

Seems the clutch may need a slight adjustment also.

Mike, that sounds great. Nice work, and congrats! Good luck with the VDO stuff--nothing like doing four projects at once.

Also. don't forget to adjust the shoes on the left rear brake--I had to back off the snails all the way to get the drum on . . .

Thanks for posting the video! What a treat to see/hear it run. You've got a keeper there, Mike! I enjoyed working with everyone.

Charles, what did you figure out about the clutch slave, anyway? Man! That was a hold-up. Sure wish we'd have installed it before installing the engine/tranny/xfer.

Things must have come together quickly after I left. Dang! Was I the impediment?!

Let's just say Galpin knows that the bleed nipple is ALWAYS on the top....and if anyone needs a slave done - he could do it in his sleep or blindfolded.

You mean he wasn't asleep and blindfolded! I don't know how he got the plastic clip on the slave rod snapped in place in the blind, basically.

Yeah the slave was a bitch, but we got her done. The third time's a charm. It would have been way easier to have put the pushrod in when installing the fork, and also installing the slave (in the right orientation) while out of the truck

Sounds great. Very impressed with the motor and their packaging!

Mike, be sure and check all lug nuts for tightness. Not sure if you heard us discussing it, but you really need longer lugs with those wheels as only about 2/3 of the threads on the nuts are able to grip. Also noted were missing bolts to frame from bulkhead in footbox areas. This is a very nice truck!

Ron, should I just replace the studs with longer ones? What is the best way to go about this??

Don't listen to Ron. Those lugs are fine, lots of folks run them with no problems.

You can buy longer ones but they aren't cheap and they can be a hassle to install without removing the hubs.

When we did the lugs on Kent's truck, we drove the short ones out with a hammer and pulled the longer ones in with a plain nut on the front. Wasn't involved in the back. Didn't require disassembly of front hubs to accomplish. Apparently, there are other opinions, but Galpin and I discussed and we feel longer is needed. Although you can apply same torque to each lug nut, only a bit over half the threaded area is making contact. Common sense would be that you are making only a little over half the friction, which is what makes threaded fasteners work. I'd sure do it if my family rode in it. Does anyone else remember if we did Kent's back lugs while we had the halfshafts out?

I remember there being an issue with at least one hub when you two were replacing the studs.
