Woody, have you nailed down what time you are getting to Jay's? I know you said you had to bail early and I don't want to miss checking out your rig. I'm planning to leave work (in Tysons) around 4:30 or so which should put me at Jay's between 5:15-5:30

Things I learned at Happy Hour this evening:

1) Doug's version of a "pint of beer" is different than Charles' version (attached...along with a few pics).
2) I have not smoked a cigarette in 2 years, but somehow bummed one from Yvonne tonight.
3) Since Doug's version of a "pint" varied from the ROW version (must be an Imerial Pint vs. a US Pint conversion), I watched him slam into a dumpster in Yvonne's Jeep Cherokee on the way out of Jay's at 1am, but I'm sure he will deny it since I was the only eye witness. The bodyshop may be my only backup on this.
4) Gustavo is as every bit as entertaining as his reputation leads on.

PS - totally forgot to recruit people for that Cars & Coffee event this Saturday morning that I posted previously...we've got a pretty decent Defender showing lined up. But if anyone is interested contact me and we can definitely use more Rigs.

Not a mark on the car- touched the dumpster which I was parked inches off of with the mirror. Non issue.
Got stuck with everyones drink bill was the true downside $160

Just busting chops, I knew I heard the dumpster rattle a bit on your way out . Though even I will admit that my parking job when I returned home at almost 2 was itself a little suspect once I re-examined it this morning. From the looks of it I'm half in the yard half on the road. It appears I may have been eyeing up the neighbors Prius in an attempt to drive over it "monster truck" style.

Also, just so you know those last round of pitchers were on my tab (which is what I told the waiter to do) so I was not part of the guilty party drinking on yours. And I had a separate tab earlier as well when I was off to the side with the wife & kid.

------ Follow up post added May 21st, 2010 10:00 AM ------

Ps - I think you got Charles' tab and he was going to Paypal you.

Gustavo was supposed to have pitched in for my portion of the bill, but if you got it, then let me know what I owe you and I'll take care of it Wednesday. Although I am wondering how you drinking for 4 hours after I left becomes my drinking bill!

I picked up a few drinks from the fellas that left earlier and told the waiter to put a pitcher on my tab but will gladly send some cash with Charles next week if needed

Charles : Sorry to interrupt you viewing of " THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS " but I wanted to inform you I did pitch $ 30.00 ( for you ). Also Bill left 40.00 to offset that 160.00 ( I think it was Bill's ).

So I don't think it was that bad.( 90.00 for 5 hours of drinking ) ( mine was 50.00 ).

Now that the FInancial situation is out of the way....

Was a lot of fun, and at the risk of not getting help on my 110, Doug and Yvonne are no longer themselves but BO & HOPE , just " ANOTHER DAY ON OUR Rover LIVES "

The drive home sucked, run out of gas ( not a freaking Gas Station ( well unless in a decent neighborhood ) OPEN at 2:00, coasted , limped to Arundel Mills Drive when the D3 died 12ft from the pump. $20.00 later on tip to some scetchy fellows, we push it to the pump and made it home 2:38 am.

I think the couch will be my friend for few weeks

Dave, I like your flooring quite clever, Thanks for the HUSH $$$ *LOL* ( It almost went to the Dry Cleanner , I forgot was in the shirt ).

Good to see you guys

If you are not careful you get sticky stuff on you when you post to it.

------ Follow up post added May 27th, 2010 11:38 AM ------

Just kidding. The thread gets pinned to the top of the list of threads so it's always on top.

Okay I know this is a happy hour thread - but I wanted advice from the NOVA crowd. I've ordered a Badger top but it won't be finished until the end of August (I do not understand why Chris does not produce inventory in winter to sell in summer, but that's not my call). This wait is going to be awful. Anyway, I am running the FG hardtop right now and looking for an interim solution to get airflow this summer. I'm considering a surrey - how well do these keep rain out of your truck? I park outside at home and at work. Is this a bad idea?

While I'm at it, does anyone have a surrey they'd be willing to part with?
Thx

You missed out - i just lent Jeff a surrey top today. But a surrey top might be a bad idea if it's always outside. It does keep pretty dry with the door tops on but seems like you'll regret it at some point.

I hoarded some old soft tops that you are welcome to borrow. One has all the windows iirc but I'd need to check.

If you don't mind wet seats a surrey should be fine.

Has a date been set for the next Happy Hour? Sorry, I missed the last 2. I hope you guys let me come back. I was attending SCARR (where were you Gus?) and preparing for the ROAV Spring Rally.

No date yet...if we do it before 6/21 I'll still be around, otherwise I'll have to hold my own HH with Bozman & KKilo in Lake George when we head up there for the summer...
