My excuse is that I do not wish to remain a single man with no kids.

Ed are you suggesting that Kilroys is not a great place to meet women?

Como?

Thought we were going to try a new place. Even the place down the road from there that Jeff A mentioned sounds better than Kil-me with your secondhand redneck smoke-roy's.

WTF

I'm hearing in the back ground that his place is going to suck...

I vote to go back to Kilroy's... We can swap parts and wrench all we want without issues.

Pedro is going to Kilroy's and everybody else is meeting at the Falls Church place. Mad Fox or whatever it's called. I am dying to try the Defender beer and their Kolsch.

I don't know when we had this up for discussion two weeks ago everyone was open to it, but now that it's tomorrow the idea seems to be getting killed. Interesting. Will it really kill us to try a new place just one time? Cripes most everyone is saying they aren't coming anyway so its not like there's going to be tons of trucks (that we've all seen hundred times anyway) in the lot.
I think we owe it to ourselves to find a new venue. I don't think anyone would disagree that between the Jimmy Buffet swag and the palls of cigarette smoke, Kilroy's is even worse than Jay's in many respects, except for parking.

Is our goal to try a new place or to find a new home for HH? I am all for trying a new bar and grabbing a few beers regardless of the parking or "amenities"...however, if we are trying to find a new place in an effort to find a new "permanent" HH spot then I think we need to rule out any place that does not have adequate parking. The fact remains that regardless of who shows up, we always spend a solid hour (if not longer) standing around the parking lot talking about, looking at and possibly wrenching on our trucks. IMO, it is the best part of HH. Just about any bar with outside seating is probably also going to have smoking allowed (in the area)...while I don't like it either, I am not sure we can avoid it.

For Ed, but applies to any single guy in DC. Ground zero for meeting women is the Whole Foods in Foggy Bottom. I was a regular there for several weeks this summer (dad at GWU Hospital for way too long) and even my wife was amazed. During lunch, dinner, mid day, you name it. Trust me, it will be packed filled with the anti-Kilroys crowd.

Actually ANY Whole Foods...I used to love shopping at that place when I was single, tons of talent. Of course, now I'm married and cheap - "how the hell do we spend $2000/month on groceries??? We need to get our ass to Wal-Mart SuperCenter!"

Oh how I can I relate to that...., but the Foggy Bottom location is in the epicenter of:
1) GW University. Think coeds new to the area.
2) GW "teaching" Hospital and Med school. Think residents new to the area.
3) A hip area of DC. Think coolness.
4) A-class buildings. Think young professionals new to the area.
5) Cool bar scene. Think late night snacks returning from bars.
6) Lots of gyms. Think fitness.
7) Probably walking distance from where Ed drops in his quad scull.

Hit it up for a cup of coffee and muffin Friday morning.

So happy hour at whole foods now? I know they now have beer on tap, a big parking lot, and tons of good looking women... I'm all in!

This is just one of my many reasons to hate on Virginia. If you are a non or ex smoker it's pretty hellacious.

Someone just tell me where we are meeting.

I do think it's silly to just write off a place without giving it a try, especially at the last hour. But I'm fine with Kilroy's or anywhere else. Yes smokers suck but they tend to like bars for some reason (it's the only place I see them). Go figure.

Dave, how about you bring the Bobie Dome (TM) and we all bring coolers of beer and just camp out in the parking lot at Kilroy's?
