Hey all - I am planning to be at the happy hour. I am also planning to make a galvanization run in a week or so. Does anyone have anything they need dipped?

The plant in Baltimore has a minimum dip weight / price and I am way under at the moment.

I'll be there. Wish I had a stash of parts to galvanize but I don't right now.

Loic, please bring my flip flops if you are coming.

We will be there, with some parts to hand out as well (to Jonathan and Tony). As well as the baby. Probably not appropriate, but I really don't care. I want you guys to meet him.

Tony you don't need anymore galvanized crap on that truck...what are you going to do, the rearview mirror?

Well hell, we might try and come too if there's going to be kids there. It's Jay's afterall...every kid should experience that.
Their mom will be proud.

I have stuff to dip just need to blast it clean first. I spoke with the galvanizer last winter and they no longer have a minimum. They need the business. They air cool things-no quenching so distortion should be minimal.

How much trouble is it to paint galvanized stuff? IIRC paint does not stick much on it, is that right? Can you "chemically" blast stuff to prepare it or do you really need to have access to a blaster? I'm thinking about getting the rear NAS bumper/tire carrier (well, at least the 3rd brake light bar; tire carrier looks fine) galvanized.

they dip it into an acid bath to remove any rust etc before galvanizing but they dont want any paint on things as they go into the tanks.
When I spoke to the guy last winter he was offering to dip a part for free just to show me their quality. When I asked him about a min he said "not really".
I have an NAS 90 bulkhead, Td5 110 tposts, the frame to my otherwise stainless grill and some other small stuff to do.

Okay, so Jay's, this Friday, at what time? Can we try to start a little earlier, say 530? I'll just be twiddling my thumbs at work until then....

Yeah, I noticed the "censorship" from yesterday.
