Northern Virginia Car Show

It's almost that time of the year again for the Virginia Scottish Games car show. We typically have a fair representation of rovers, lots of Triumphs, MGs, Healeys, Rolls and Bentleys, etc. Doesn't cost a dime to get in and it's a fun day. Below is the information I sent out to our usual attendee list, would love to have some more Rovers turn up. Feel free to PM or email with questions.

Tony

I am writing to invite you and your vehicle to participate in the 2007 Invitational British Car Show. The Show will be held in conjunction with Virginia Scottish Games on Saturday, September 15, 2007 on the beautiful grounds of Sky Meadows Park in Delaplane, VA. We were lucky enough to be able to secure this location at a time of year when the weather should be absolutely wonderful. Sky Meadows is about an hour's drive west of Alexandria either via Rte. 50 or 66, and this new venue will create a nice opportunity to give our cars some exercise.

The British Car Show will be held from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Light-hearted trophies will be awarded at 2:00 PM. An exhibitors' tent will be available for your comfort. Since the Car Show is not a competitive judging meet but an exhibition, you are welcome to attend as many Games events as you desire during the day. Vendors will be selling food and drinks, but you are, of course, welcome to bring a picnic.

If you can accept this invitation, please let me know at the phone number or email address below, as soon as possible so that we may plan for your attendance. Please let me know what type of car you will be bringing, and tickets will be waiting for you. Stringent vehicle access restrictions to the grounds require that we know in advance that you are coming. Feel free to tell your friends that own British vehicles about the event, as they are more than welcome to participate - all we need to know is that they are coming.

We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at the Games. For more information on the games, the web site is: http://www.vascottishgames.org/ and the website for Sky Meadows is: http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state_parks/sky.shtml

It's on my calendar. Do I need to shoot these guys an email or were you going to take care of that, Tony

Charles, are you going? If so, could I just follow you up?

You going to be in town? If yes, follow me or we can truckpool (I'm assuming you'll be at the house ). My calendar tells me one of my kids have a dental appointment that day but I am sure I can wangle it.

Tony, I've been back from vacation for a week, but been to busy to drop you a note. I'll PM you but I'm ready for you to take this engine anytime.

Their web site states:
Adult Tickets - $15
Active Military and Family Discount Tickets - $5 off (with ID at the Gate)
Child Tickets (5-12) - $5
Under 5 - Free
Parking - $5 (on-site)

So I guess your comment means "free for the exhibitors" ?

What time are you looking to leave? I can either meet you at your place(think i remember how to get there) or meet you at Gilberts Corner?

Yup, free for participants, which, if you bring a british car, you are! Just let me know if you're coming and what car you're bringing if you would.

I ran out there today -- what a beautiful place!

Tyler, it wouldn't be much out of your way to meet here. I think Neil will be here too as well.

Tony, what about you guys? Want to meet up on 50 somewhere (like gilbert's corner)?

Can't miss me -- I'll be the guy in the kilt.

there'll be people directing you and showing you where to park when you get there, I'll be one of them. Failing that I'll either be in the 90 (license plate ENGLAND) or the shitbox green RRC.

Tres bien!

It's honestly a beautiful site on the edge of the foothills. The AT actually goes through the site.

Oh, we're taking the rangie instead of the 90 -- you'll know it as it'll be the one the kids are scared of.

We'll be there, either towing, trailering or driving the 101. Hopefully driving it.

10:00ish.
