I'm in for the 16th and don't mind the change of venue.
A couple of comments for the group though:
-Jay's still has a special place for me because the night before the Vatican authorized St Patrick's day the establishment was populated by a crowd that included bonafide midgets...any bar that can do that should stay on our circuit.
-I rail against Cap City in Shirlington even though I could probably put my truck in neutral and get there by going down Walter Reed (were the lights timed properly). The beer there, IMHO, is terrible.

In any case, I have to go with the notion that if the Quarterdeck is even more of a dive than Jays, we'll be well taken care of there. I look forward to it.

Cap City is also cursed with crap food anymore. Double Immodium-level food.

Witness the glory that is the Quarterdeck's bar. Just insert grime and some crusty Ft. Myer types and it's dead on:

First, I'll do HH anywhere and the 16th should be ok (and as Doug says we'll be full of stories about our trip to Uhwarrie).

J., what makes this thread better than the other? And I was happy at my wrenching party, so it counts

All you pussies who don't want to drive in traffic need to remember it takes half of us 45+ minutes to get to Jays. I'm up for another location that's closer to me every now and again.

Greg, F you.

I'm going to have a hard time getting Donna back to Jays due to the ashtray effect, but I'll try sell her on outdoor seating being better.

love

Just playing devils advocate- but you realize on my side of the Potomac its illegal to smoke indoors except in your home. I guess that law will never pass in Virginia, the birthplace/home of the tobacco industry.

Guess I won't try to make it since smoking is frowned upon by the group and I do like my cigars when drinking.

Everyone still on for next Wednesday, the 16th at the Quarterdeck?

You can still smoke there Eric N, we won't "frown upon" you!

Yeah I don't think anyone minds smokers smoking. It's the 16 years since the windows were opened and the smoke smell is embedded into the wood smoke that transfers into your clothes smoke is the smoke we have issues with.

Well, that's good to know then... I at least try to blow my smoke away from everyone when we are out side..

I'm not sure if I can make it or not.. I'm hoping that I'll get to pick up a rescued dog that I am trying to adopt that evening but, I won't really know anything till next week.. I'll try to make it if I don't get to pick up the dog that night though... Is the Quarter Deck really more of a dive then Jay's? Is that even possible?

I'm still in...but for the simple curiosity of Tony's contention that the Quarterdeck is more of a dive than Jay's. I have the same question as Eric...is that even possible?

It's not so much the location that is shittier, it's really the clientele.
