MO canoe trip

Well the truck is ready and the canoe loaded. All I have left to do is load the truck and get ice after work and we will be on our way.
We plan on doing the Jacks Fork and the Current rivers. A total of about 120 miles of river in 9 days. This is our 2nd trip to MO and we can't wait to get back.
I will be giving little updates over the next 2 weeks.
All you rover witch doctors please roll the bones for us so we may have safe travels and no break downs!!
Regards
Abe

Rack looks good with the canoe up Abe. On a long trip do you take jerry cans in the lockers or use them for something else ?

Thanks Doug. It turned out ok. I do not take a full can but I do take one. I store my tools in a couple ammo boxes along with spares and fluids in the space.

Have a great trip. I had thought about a trip on the Current this year but too many other trips. Are you camping in designated campgrounds or just anywhere on the river?

Great area, i grew up just south of St. Louis and made my way down to that neck of the woods pretty often for canoeing and fly fishing for trout and small mouth bass. A friends parents have a place on the upper black river which is nice to paddle as well.

When he was building it and sharing pictures I asked the same thing. Its hard mounted to the roll cage through the top on rubber washers

I welded studs to the cage and used rubber washers to seal it. No leaks yet.
We camp along the river but not at campgrounds as we like our privacy.

Eric thank you and will do. I will post pics and updates when I can and think of it.
Jeff I love that picture. Life is about making fond memories. It's one of my favorite things to do.
After a late start and a few mandatory stops we have made it to Tifton Ga. for the night

Jonesboro Arkansas is a wonderful place after driving in a canvas top 110 for 13 hrs. A few hours on Sunday and will will be in Eminence Missouri. Time to get some grub and crash for the night. We are strung out from the road.

No it's not. But it is strange. That show makes me sick and it causes me to have anger issues with parents that have self esteem issues and live through their kids because THEY think their child is special. Sorry I am 3 gin and tonics in at the Holiday Inn and on a rant!!

We made it to Eminence yesterday at 2:00 after a very cool detour to 10 miles of dirt roads a few creek crossings.
When we arrived we found out that the river was closed due to flooding and would reopen today if the water level drops to a safe level.
We regrouped and went for a 30 mile dirt/off road adventure that included several ( maybe 10 - 15 ) creek crossings. One was jewel deep that had the hair standing up because we were the only vehicle. What fun. I was told that Shannon county has more than 1000 miles of dirt roads.
Tomorrow we will hit the river. Can't wait.

We hit the Jacks Fork river on Tuesday. It was just under flood stage. I have to be honest that it was the fastest water I have ever paddled. A little too technical for us as we tipped the canoe and yard sallied our whole boat. Paddles and Yeti coolers down stream. It was stressful paddle.
We are back in town and waiting to see what the weather is going to do. Have heard that it might snow. We will see. If it does not all is lost as we will hit the back roads again and exercise the 110.
