Just called Famous Dave's. I told him we are going to have 30 +/- people for lunch. He put us down as the Land Rover Club

Weather permitting, he is going to try to fit us all together on the outer patio and reserve the space for us. Sounds good to me. If the weather is questionable - he does not have a large room inside - but will seat us in all booths that are close in one area.

I look forward to meeting all of you. Should be a fun get together. Thanks for coming!

Garage Queen just backed out on me today...but wants in on the next meeting (if there is one). Otherwise, I think I can convince him to come down to the Middy. Sorry guys, no sub 10k 90 example coming...you'll just have to deal with my well-used, dirty as sin, hint-o-rust 90. But hey, can't blame the guy...he and I are both losing our jobs (he before I) and I'm sure cash is a bit tight these days when considering fueling up these thirsty beasts.

See y'all Sunday!

I have three 110's here that could use the excercise, 5 door wagon, high cap pickup, and a 2 door utility that currently a pickup cab. Guess I'll see if I can find a driver or two for the 20 mile trip.

Chuck - shame about your fried at work. But we are going to see his 90 some day! There is no shame in having a NICE truck! We would all love to see a pristine example. Sorry to hear about the jobs. I have my own architecture firm - it is just me - I have work right now - but am always worried about when/if the next job is coming. This economy is tough. Work from home right now - so I don't spend a lot on gas.............Tell your friend we will DEFINITELY do a 'next time!'

Doug - It would be awesome if you could get extra drivers and drive the three trucks up! I am looking forward to meeting you. Your business sounds awesome! Thanks for making the effort to come.

I am excited we pulled this thing off. My wife and 17mo old son hope to make lunch. My parents are going to be there. As will one of my sister's, her husband, and 2 year old daughter. It should be fun! Hopefully some of the people that signed up early on, and been silent, still make it

I am looking forward to meeting everyone!

Follow-up Post:

Matter of fact I would love to get to 20 Trucks! Perhaps if Doug can get drivers for all his vehicles, and if people like William stop by, we will make it!

BTW, I have lots of pics...I just didn't want to post 'em here if folks don't want their rigs online. Here are a few from afar...

THANKS EVERYONE! More Pics..........

Thanks for everyone that showed up! It was a fun time for all. I was happy to put faces together with names, and actually meet people in person.

I think 11 trucks showed up. Most Defenders that I have seen in a while - plus a few other cool rovers! I also have a ton of pictures - but I am only going to post a few where the plates are pretty obscure.

Everyone seems to have a good time talking, catching up, and discussing their Rovers (or ideas to do to them). People tried to convince me to put an alum. hard top on my truck, and sell my fiberglass hardtop, and internal soft top cage.........I am sure other people had lots to talk about.

Lunch was good. Famous Dave's did a good job getting us a place all together, and searving up some good BBQ. At the end of the meal, a brownie ice cream dessert came to the table with a sparkling candle - and happy birthday was sung to me by all. I don't know who let it be known that it was my birthday - but a few people knew, and with some of my family there, I have some guesses

A great way to spend my birthday - with family, friends, and meeting new friends.

Thanks to everyone who made the effort to come! Let's do something again!

Looks like it was fun.

Emerson - You still have Humpty?

If you had made it yesterday - I was going to congratulate you in person on your Rovers North Mug. I saw your name in the quarterly magazine too........

Still have Humpty, Flagg. After speaking with Pendy, I may need to hang onto it for a little while until certain... xxxx and tribulations are over.

I used it as the boatyard car and local running around.

Thanks! I sent another "sighting" this weekend, too. Always better to have 2 matching mugs, right?

Geez, I go out of town for a few weeks, didn't make the time to log in to D-90 only to return to read that I missed an event that was pretty much in my back yard. It would've taken my a total of 3 minutes to get to Dicks. I knew nothing about this event. When is the next event?

Flagg, great job for putting this together.

Maybe we could try Chuck's idea above that we thought about, for a place to meet - then go to a cool place to eat...........

- Meet at Avalon parking lot off route 1 at 10:30 ($2 admission)
- Caravan lines up at 12:15 and leaves at 12:30 +/-
- Take some more scenic roads to Dimitris resturant in Ellicott City for lunch (back parking lot should handle us)

I like the sound of that. Heck, why go anywhere? There is a pavallion right there that we could pack-in a lunch as well as a playground for the kiddies...that's worth the $2 right there for those of us w/ kids.

Anybody in for a pre-game party prior to the Middy? Maybe meet there for lunch and cruise down caravan style to the middy! Remember, this is the 60th BD for landy...should be a massive showing.

Just a thought - Maryland's own Motorweek (PBS) covered Camp J**p...we should invite them to cover a real rally. Anybody know anyone in the Owings Mills studios?
