MAR Postscript

Unfortunately, I had to leave the party early and will miss out on the last day.

You NE-ers didn't miss much. Dave, you'll be happy to know that you didn't take ALL the VA mud home with you. There was plenty there this year too! Mike, you would've been happier than a pig in sh*t.

Island never opened.

LOTS of Defenders, in fact it seemed like more this year than previous. (Special prize if you can find Zach in the photo!)

I posted a bigger version of this pic and another to the Yahoo Groups pictures. Will post more when I have more time. Let's see yours!

Great meeting everyone. Isn't the D-90 Source awesome?!

Hows the rover after the misshap on Goat trail? For it being my first MAR it was fun despite the truck running too hot all weekend and almost boiling over on the way home. Will send pics to Chris once I get them developed. Good to meet everyone.

I will get to my pictures tomorrow. I know I took about 20 at the Defender lineup, some super hi-res. Looks like the perfect cover picture for a 2005 D-90 Source calendar?

Thank you to everyone who jumped into the line up. I was not expecting so many to jump in, but the more the merrier and it was a great line up. Got to meet some people from here I had not meet before as well as missed meeting a lot of others I didnt get to run into.

Also got to see 2 trucks I was previously attempting to buy earlier this year and I am glad to see they are still leading happy lives on trails.

If anyone needs it. I can host pics for free on my photo site until CVC gets all the copies and collates. Just send them to me.

Edit. "Rolled trucks"? Let's hear more about that. I didn't think anything was that extreme there. Unless you failed on a very slick hill climb and hit the brakes going backwards. Then I could see how you would get twisted up and roll.

We came across a disco that had rolled due to exessive speed on a rather flat trail. I didn't get out and look due to the late hour but someone on this board was a passenger in the truck. We shall see if he speaks up. It was a great weekend. Met a bunch of cool people and have many new stories. I am going to attempt the cleaning process for the rest of the day.

I'm surprised Crazy George doesn't do a display at MAR. I'm sure he's getting lot's of calls for panels and other goodies today.

My exhaust pipe has seen better days and I lost the left rear tail lamp in the tank trap.

You guys should have been down on the East river trail at 4:30 in the morning when the Toyota FJ45 with the turbo diesel blew up in 6 feet of mud and water. Thats why the bulldozer was there. I also think that the only reason that us D-90 guys were there was to tow out the stock discos. Nothing like seeing a disco roll though.

I have great pics of a series III 109 that rolled, I can send them to you. Best thing is that they recovered it, fixed it and had it back out.

It was nice to meet you guys! Had a great time - albeit sleep deprived most of the times. I have a few pics of the D90 gathering, I'll post them when I get them sorted out. I had my wife and two kids with me over the weekend so the D90 stayed at home in favor of the Disco. That would have been a great photo opportunity to be a part of. Oh well, next time I guess....

Ken - great idea with the photo, nice job. Great to finally meet most of you guys. Hopefully I'll be able to make some of the future gatherings in PA and elsewhere.

I've got some photos I could send to you Dave. Need to download them from the camera.

BTW, I was in that Disco that rolled. Everyone was ok. The Disco wasn't though.

Wish I could've participated in the photo, unfortunately my 4th Ignition Amplifier died when I pulled in and I didn't get the parts until mid-afternoon. I hate Lucas . . .

Tony, I believe I saw your 90 but didn't see you....

Here's a pic I dug up on the MAR D90 gathering. Of course, I have to post the tripod that made it happen...

Oh, everybody saw mine as they drove by it for a day and a half (it was near the entrance dead with a cooked ignition module until Sat. afternoon).

I just wanted to say I'm a new owner and my first event was MAR. I always wanted a defender and Saturday solidified the reasons to own one. I can't wait to actually get on the trail with some of you guys (work kept me off this year but I vow to drive it next year). Thanks for posting the pics and and extending a hand to newbies.

That does suck. I sat there and watched you work on that. At least it got you there and back.
