I've always had great luck with REI tents -- the middy was the first run for my new taj 3 and it stayed completely dry. It's my second rei tent (getting a bigger model was the only reason for replacing the old one). Much easier to set up than my previous North Face tent (that dated to when North Face made outdoor gear and not trustafarian crap).

really any tent with a good fly should be fine as long as you put some sealant on it before you use it. It is the people who dont even have a fly on their tent that get soaked and always wonder why..... Just go with a reputable name and choose the number of people/space you need.
I got a mountain hardware 2 person, and its been pretty bombproof.

I dunno, but I think the depth, and flow rate of the river under your tent is a factor to consider as well.

I had a brand new 2 person sierra designs electron tent.. with the fly on, i was bone dry all night even with the high wind and 9 inches of rain... got it from www.campmor.com which is a mile from my house. Even came with a ground cover and gear holder inside. $160 and you cant beat it... You can see it in the pic... its the blue one.

the first 2 pics are of the bumper to bumper traffic on 95 and the speed we were doing for 2 hours...

Thanks, hey I see my truck in that picture...beside the yellow tent, and behind the series.....(white d90)

I made the mistake of letting my tarp extend out to gather up the water and send it into the tent....not to bad before I caught it.....but the wind kept bending the tent over and smaking my face all night..............not to mention the Chinese water torture to my forehead (even with the rain fly)
I big tarp helped for Friday......but I want to upgrade. (that was my camper in the pic...I bet they were dry)

Two things I noticed this trip
1. Big tarps never get small again once opened.
2. Hundreds of rovers can get together on a farm without ever seeing one of them on the road coming or going.
3. Hundreds of Harley's can get together in Myrtle beach and you will get behind everyone of them and see them at every gas station,exit, convenient store.

I'm a sucker for tents, I picked this one up this summer.

http://ig4x4.com/item6.htm

The idea that I could build a fire inside was more than I could resist. It's big and roomy for only weighing 20 lbs. Too big for backpacking, but it wouldn't take up much space in the back of a D-90. I took it elk hunting this year. It packs a hell of a lot better on a horse than a big wall tent, but still has lots of room.

oh, and did I mention you can build a fire inside?

I use this:
http://www.hennessyhammock.com/sp-ultralight.htm
When I had the D I would sling it between my bullbar and a tree or another truck. No need to worry about a river running through it, just under it. Always keeps me dry, got a good bag so no worries on getting cold, weighs a pound, fits under the passengers seat... I also love to sleep in hammocks, I find them pretty comfy. Only issueis when you get tanked and gotta piss in the middle of the night. Like a butterfly coming out of the coccoon.

No, Bryan, I wasn't able to find it in the states. I wish I had been able to. It turned out to be an expensive pain in the ass to get it here. I thought with NAFTA and all, it wouldn't be a big deal to get here, but it turned out to be made in China. I had to pay a pretty hefty duty to get it through customs, and it took a while too. Jeez, you'd think I was trying to smuggle in silkworm missiles or something....

I haven't built a fire in it yet, but I'm looking forward to doing so. -Smoky smelling clothes and all!

Phillip;

The Green SW was in our group from Roanoke. Truck has around 13,000 miles on it. It is very nice.

Bryan;

Glad to meet you on Thursday and hang out for a while. I have seen you post for a while now and it is good to finally be able to put a name with the face.

Randy;

Only got to see your truck do a drive by our camp site on Saturday morning. I wanted to check it out but from what I saw I liked. Nice rig!

Troy
