Long Island meet

I have been talking with a few other local members about putting together a Long Island meet. This would obviously include all who wish to attend from NYC, NJ, CT etc.

Location is to be determined. I think something on the east end of LI could be really nice with the warm weather and all. Maybe something out by Greenport or Montauk/East Hampton/Southampton or something on Ocean Parkway like Gilgo/Tobay... Maybe something up in Huntington on the harbor...

Ultimately an off road beach meet would be the best in my opinion but due to pass availability being limited to Suffolk County residents I don't think that would work out great (unless only Suffolk people come). I know of a really cool spot on the bay in Montauk we can go or we could do Outer Beach by Smiths Point...

Thoughts?

Suggestions?

Date? (Maybe next month before it gets too hot?)

Locations that sound good to me, totally open though:

1. Montauk, beach, brewery, restaurant wherever
2. Greenport, Orient Point, Claudio's, Greenport Brewery etc
3. Ocean parkway area - Gilgo, Tobay, Jones, Moses
4. Huntington - Prime? I don't know this area too well but I am sure there is a few nice places
5. BBQ at some beach or state park
6. Sag Harbor
7. This farm in Amagansett I might be able to get us access too

We could all meet somewhere out west a bit and cruise to location together

Are there any beaches that non-county residents can wheel on?

There are a few options

1. Suffolk County - County residents only

2. New York State - NYS residents only AND only sold until 3/31 and after 9/1 (So you need to wait until after Labor day to buy this one at this point)

3. Southampton - Town residents only

4. Easthampton - Town residents only

I have the state and Suffolk County pass. If we wanted to do a off road beach thing, people without passes can park and we can ferry passengers in trucks with passes... Otherwise I am trying to think of a beach we can basically drive right up to the beach (but not on), park and hang out...

If I had a truck I would invite you all to my beach house that is on NOFO. Maybe next summer.

One idea for you all is to meet at a Vineyard.

Hampton beach vehicles are under assault by the summer residents. They do not want vehicles on the beach. Even with permits, they will call the police.

That isn't true. I go on the beach all the time, often a couple times a week. Been doing it my whole life. I have never had an issue. Smiths, Theodore Roosevelt, Sore Thumb, Democrat Point, Montauk Downs, Cupsoguqe and Shinnecock East don't have any houses near it. Smiths is fun because it is a 5 mile stretch.

You might be talking about the East Hampton beaches which are under a bit of fire? But we aren't going there anyway.

That being said maybe we should try to do it at a place everyone can attend without needing a pass like a park, brewery, vineyard etc.

My cousin is the chief of the Amagansett fire dept. I'll ask him if we can use this farm he had a family party at. Would be a perfect spot.

P.S. You should come anyway truck or no truck. You can ride with me if you want.

Thanks! But when you left I would be screaming and crying like at 3 year old.

Yes - East Hampton.

Funny - my cousin's father in law is in the Amagansett FD - see if your cousin know Phil (wont post his last name but his daughter's name is Jenn).

Would love to ride along. Let me know where and when and I will see if I can get out.

No date set yet as didn't really get a ton of feedback. I know a few guys recently got their trucks back up and running... Maybe we set something up for September? Then we could def do it at a beach as the parking becomes way less restrictive (and less crowded)

I saw some Porsche guys having a meet at the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill the other day.

I can't wait to check that 6x6 out.

Sept would be fine with me. As you said the beaches would be less crowded too. Maybe throw a vinery in the mix like suggested above? We need to water up and get fed right? Is it boys only? If so I have to work on the excuse with the missus starting now.

I missed the Porsche meet. They have so many so not upset about missing it.

I'm definitely up for it. Could come with my son too and we'd have two vehicles.

Looking forward to hearing more.
