Got into town late last night. My 110 isn't ready so it a Cliffhanger jeep rental for me. Picked up the Jeep this AM seat time later today on some easy stuff.

That's like 7 levels of "so wrong". I'd rent a Camry to get to trailhead and ride Yotch with someone else!

Your cube at AB is going to get toilet papered while you're out.

You need to get a bumper sticker made up that says "Not A Defender!"

I must say a 4 door Rubicon on 35's is a great ride. Lots of leg room decent power and cup holders and AC standard. I can see why people jump ship and buy a new Jeep. It doesn't have the style or quirkiness of a Rover but it does have the fun.

Chicken corners good trail for stock trucks.

Sevenmile Rim. Many gratuitous pictures of my own ride.

National Rally needs some help! poor turn out this year with only 5 or 6 vendors showing up. Our trail leader got lost twice on the trail? Might be a good idea to pre run so you know what you are doing. Same thing happened last time.
Good to see all our rover friends and that crew from Arizona really made the weekend. Can't wait for the AZLRO rally.
Even if i do show up in a Toyota.

I had heard the same thing. Too bad, really. When I went in 2010 it seemed to be a good turnout. I wonder what the issue is? Lack of promotion? Late change of dates? Tough economy forcing people to attend more local events and forego the Rally?

I am sure it is a bit of all of those things... except the promotion...

Also I am sure that it not being in the summer months didn't help either. Many people see the rally as a family event... and with the kids in school ... that certainly makes it hard.

We are well on our way to planning next years event! So stay tuned...

I didn't mean to imply you didn't promote it enough. I knew I couldn't go this year so I didn't follow it too closely.
I do know that there is MUCH more talk on the forums about Conclave, Wilds, Rovers on the Rocks, etc than there is about the Rally. Maybe the East coast crowd is tighter knit than the West coast, IDK. Perhaps the drive from the East to Moab is so far that most of them write it off anyways.
I understand the family thing and that its difficult to bring kids in October. But I also can't see having the Rally in Moab in any of the summer months when its 95* every day.
Hopefully it turns around because I had a very good time in 2010.

Hell's Revenge

Despite the small turn-out, I had a great time. The weather was absolutely perfect! I agree with Oliver, attending with some of your local club members or folks you know from previous events adds to the fun even when the over all attendance is down. One of the side benefits was smaller groups on most of the trails.

I had a little unintended fun in the Z Turn on Moab Rim.

Not a ton of pics on this trail. We had a great trail leader and a fast moving group.

Thanks for the feedback! I will certainly bring it up...

and yes... the East coast is really far for sure... I certainly wouldn't consider driving from Moab to the East Coast for a rally...

thanks again...

Just got back. We noticed a distinct lack of trucks around as well. Lots of heeps and mountain bikes of course. Some more pics...
