Kansas City FRS 06/13/09 Off-Raod Event

FRS members, the following is a reminder email about this Saturday's event, and details about the event.
You may want to print this email and bring it with you Saturday.

We will meet at the rest stop that sits between the east and west bound lanes just west of Lawrence at 8:00 a.m. and leave soon after. For more details please email.

Plan to pack a lunch and drinks for the day.

Located in the Flint Hills of Eastern Kansas, Randolph ORV is one of Midwest ís best locations for off-road. Located at the NW end of Tuttle Creek Reservoir, just east of the town of Randolph , off of Secrest Road . There are signs on Highway 77 and Riley County Road 893 indicating the location of the park. The park is managed by the Army Corps of Engineers. Recently a toilet was constructed. There is a large gravel parking lot at the entrance.

The Corps has established a few basic rules to help ensure that all users will enjoy a safe visit. They solicit your cooperation in adhering to these rules. Use only existing trails. Do not break new trails or expand existing trails. This will help prolong the life of the area. Respect private property by keeping out of it. The boundary line is delineated with yellow posts and identification signs. If you encounter these signs, or a barbed wire fence or rock wall, you are approaching private property. Do not proceed any further. Also, do not ride up and down the creek beds. They are not trails.

Basic provisions, including are and gas, are available at the convenience store in Randolph . The closest camping is at Fancy Creek Campground, just about 1 mile to the North. For other lodging and restaurants, you will need to drive 25 miles south, to Manhattan . There you will find hotels, motels, and many eating establishments.

Tyler and Craig are going to camp at the park Saturday night. Feel free to camp there as well.

We plan on bringing walkie talkies to the event. We will pass them out once we enter the park.

From John King:

I live in Manhattan , if anybody needs to work on their vehicles following the event I would like to offer my driveway/street to allow them to do so. I don't have the nicest place (bachelor), but I would like to be as hospitable as possible.
Please give me a call...

I've never gotten to attend a meeting since I live in Manhattan , but I'd like to be as involved as possible.

Hope to see many of you there,

P.S. MB G-Wagons are welcome to this event as well.
