Iceland

Over Christmas I did a 5 day trip over southern and eastern Iceland with my wife in a 2014 Puma 110. I will post more info in a bit.

The Puma was truly night and day over my R380/300tdi. The wife who is used to my Series and 110 commented how she was impressed by the Puma. Way quieter, heat worked great, and 6 speed tranny was nice. It was wild to also see all the lifted 110s on 38" tires.

Ended up hitting a part off a trailer covered by fresh snow. I was also surprised. My wife just laughed at my "defender luck".

There is an airline called "wow" that had some amazing airfare deals. The airfare was super cheap. We flew out of Baltimore as that was the easiest for us.

We did the dry suit dive between the continental plates. It's more of a bucket list thing than to see any marine life. Not a single fish to be seen.

Air temp was 31 and water temp was 33. We wore a dry suit.

Perfectly reasonable - 95% of my dives are Drysuit.

Bottom time for the drift dive is approx 35 minutes. Beautiful drive to the site site.

When I worked on a construction project there I checked out the LR's and Cruiser's with what at first sight seem outlandish wheels and tires. Closer examination revealed some good workmanship on the body and extended arches, also some had beefed up their axles and mounts. Of particular interest, there were some with pneumatic suspension, supposedly so they could load up with elk that they had hunted. I never did find out who manufactured this kit (as it was not LR) but they said they brought them in from the "States".
They seemed a simple set-up with no load sensors or automatic ride height control.
Having owned a RR with air, I always fancied a Defender with air.
Eric.
