Iceland 2018

We are starting logistic planning for a trip to back to Iceland in April 2018.

We have a 110 300Tdi in Netherlands that we will pick up and use for the trip. Drive Netherlands to Denmark. Ferry to Iceland via Faroe Islands. Return is the reverse.

I know some of you have Europe contacts/homes/trucks. Even if you don’t, fly over, buy a truck, and let’s do Iceland.

Netherlands has good trucks, two forum vendors are from there, and they have services to register and insure vehicles. Foley’s can do same if you want a UK original.

Sam,

Still in planning phase. We need to pick up truck in NLD, prob spend a week sorting gear and equipment checks, and drive to Hirtshals. That is about an 8 hour drive. Then get ferry (Smyril Line) and chill for 3 days, land in Seyðisfjörður. That is in the west fjords. Go clockwise from there, and take it as it comes. Would def like to do more of the interior area this time.

Not really a trip for rentals, unless ISAK rentals is allowing driving on F roads. There are tons of Toyotas, Nissans, and Land Rovers for rent, but where you can go is limited.

Anyone interested, start looking at Iceland road maps.

In 2003 Carrie and I shipped a 1997 Disco to Iceland for 3 months! Sorry, too much going on for us to join you in April.

Epic! Beautiful! Unforgettable! Ready to do it again!

Everyone who enjoys 4 wheel driving should go to Iceland at least once. I face mandatory retirement in 2 years and expect to make regular extended trips to Iceland.

Just watched a Netflix original about cold water surfers, they had two rental 110’s and were cruising the uninhabited bays of northwest Iceland. Gorgeous and definitely reinvigorated the desire to visit the area, en landy of course.
