I agree. At Expo west I drove one of the 2014 Range Rovers and it was just strange. The dial gear shift and cameras that let you see your tyre placement. It kinda took the excitement out of it. You could barely feel the terrain with the suspension. Too much technology for an off road vehicle I think.

My co-pilot was a driving instructor from Sulihull, wonderful woman. My favorite was when she was trying to tell me how to pick my lines and when I didn't listen she said, 'Oh, yes never mind you're right'...it was so much fun!

If I got the kind of money I heard about for that event I would invite them back as often as they wanted to come around.

There aren't a lot of sensors on a Range Rover that will shut the engine off when wet, not to mention that they are probably sealed much better than those of an older Land Rover. I could see one particular vehicle having problems, especially if it was some early production promotional vehicle, but not every L322 Range Rover at the event.

An older Land Rover is much more modifiable than a new one, but in stock form, 500 hp and an advanced traction control system is far superior to an underpowered open diff D1/RRC/D90. The suspension travel alone is far greater on the newer trucks allowing for more traction.

How many people on hear feel comfortable driving a 20 year old Land Rover on a 6+ hour trip without even considering the fact that they might break down? I accept the fact that I could break down on any given day on my hour drive home from work, but if I had a '06+ Land Rover, it would never even cross my mind.

I'm willing to bet they will. Alot of the big vendors are out west. some of them probably didn't want to invest too much without the numbers to back the business decisions. now they have a baseline.

I wore jeans and had a good time. But my point was if they were even back-to-back weekends I'd do both.
