Enroute to Guatemala!

So begins my man-trip to El Mirador, the mayan ruins complex deep in the jungles. I'm reporting in from Miami Intl waiting on my connection to Belize City. Tomorrow we catch a connecting flight to Flores, Guatemala to meet up with NLX at the La Lancha Resort gor one night of luxury, cervesas and cigars before heading into the heart of darkness. Stay tuned for updates and hopefully lots of winching pics!

We shall all ride along vicariously from our offices until it's our turn! Thanks for sharing- any idea which horse you're riding? Brutus, Brando, Romulus or Remus?

Good read on a study just released today about how climate change likely directly affected the outcome of the Mayan civilization.

"What Caused Collapse of Mayan Civilization?"

Also neat (was referenced in the previous story):

Man, if only the Mayans had been more sensitive to their carbon footprint we'd know what the heck was going to happen on December 13, 2012.

It has been awful quiet here.... do you think he was overcome by some Mayan curse? (... or worse - a Lucas curse?)

They are off the grid and without cell or internet service... I think they'll be back online Tuesday... I did the last trip with James and crew... Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, and Guatemala... I know they've been doing some serious winching... and are on foot or by mule the last few days into the ruins...
