East - Overland Expo 10/3-5 Asheville, NC

Have been doing research on Overland Expo East October 3rd - 5th in Asheville, NC.
We were thinking about having a group attend, but am not interested in taking all the classes and paying the higher fee so contacted:

MICHAEL KAISER, sales manager exhibitors and Overland Sourcebook)
who is in North Carolina and is the POC for vendors.

Michel told me that anyone is welcome to attend and if you are not interested in the classes, you can purchase a day pass @ $15 per day, camp onsite for $10 a day, visit all the vendor tents, and come and go as you please.

We could organize some local off roading for a more challenging trail and there will be an on-site "challenge" we could also drive.

The only negative about the event is that it will be attended by several thousand people (or more), so it will be somewhat crowded.

I know MAR is the same weekend, but am interested in seeing all the vendors and all the other vehicles and the innovative camping and other stuff. I have never missed a MAR, but there is always next year...

Anyone interested?
I know we have some members local to the event.

$15 for general admission sounds great. I just want to go to walk around and look at the crap.

A trail ride would also be quite nice.

Exactly, but want to squeeze in as much as possible, so a group camp, trail ride, onsite challenge, and all the vendors sounds like a busy blast of a weekend.

I think we still have the VA State Flag which we could fly to let everyone know where we are camping, but if we can't locate the flag, the Land Rover Marque itself should stand out in the crowd.

Sweet. I was on the fence due to the cost but I'll certainly be attending at this price point. Camping, checking out cool rigs and enjoying some craft brews in Asheville should make for a good time

I offered in the other thread that I'm willing to host a small BBQ session or something of the sort. My shop is just a few minutes away from the event. It seems like there will be tons going on at the event so it might not work but I wanted to throw it out there.

For any locals - are there any trails around the area that would be worth running? I'm not very familiar with the area but from what I know it seems like primarily tame FS roads
