I am going to try to feel bad here...

not yet. I am not blaming you or Justin. If Dan is no longer associated with the Conclave then I guess it will not be an issue. I had a feeling that relationship would not hold. I wonder if he was part of the reason so many folks chose not to attend last year?

this should be interesting. I guess Dan will hold a counter-counter-counter event.

Guess so:

Looking forward to Conclave & appreciate L8, Goose, and everyone's efforts. Let me know if I can help.

Also looking forward to whatever ROAV pulls together as I don't feel like any of us can claim to be overwhelmed by wheeling opportunities.

But maybe that's just me being the idealistic peacemaker I am...

THIS WHAT I POSTED IN ANOTHER FORUM:

I for one am not anyone's Babysitter and certainly not planing to become one this year.

What happened last year ( was sad ) and the parties involved will deal with that for years to come.

Can we please leave the " OFF EVENT " comments , bullshit and personal feelings out of the event thread?

Yes The Conclave will take place again this year on the aforementioned dates.

Remember why The Conclave was created? I will help you.... It was created to be the East Coast event for Land Rover Owners to wheel in a great venue and have the opportunity to share time with other like minded individuals, IT NEVER WAS an " ANTI " anything and will certainly remain that way.

Thanks in advance to those who supported us last year and will continue to do so this year as well as welcoming those who will join us for the first time.

It use to be that car clubs gave people of like minded interest a place to congregate in person to sell parts and exchange ideas & information related to their marque...
Now a lot of us congregate online in the convenience of our home or mobile device.

This leaves most with no real allegiance to any given car club.

So knowing first hand, the planning, coordination, and finally onsite work that goes into hosting an event, I am very thankful and respectful of anyone who will go to the trouble to put on a first class event like last year's Conclave.
Every event has room for improvement, but Conclave 2012 was very very good.
All events need sponsors and if a sponsor wants exposure to their target market and has the time and money, it makes good logic to support events and show their face and logo as much as possible.

Thanks to the sponsor and everyone who worked to make the 2012 Conclave a success.
It was the last time we got to hang out with Mike Van Curen.
Keep us posted as to the details so we can sign up to attend...
This is an event I do not want to miss!

Yeah really miss Mike's calls and visits.
He was a fun guy, just sorry I didn't get to know him as well years ago, but it is what it is and we all have to live with the loss!

X3 Robert..... on all points.
Mike really appreciated all the help and guidance you gave him. He kept on me to come down and see the 107...dam he wanted me to get that.
I still think the lowered/blown 109 he wanted to build would have been epic.

Conclave 2013

Event Registration, Dinner, and Raffle ticket is $80.00
The Cove Campground will collect a $25.00 flat fee for each trail vehicle plus camping fees
3 nights camping is $60 per adult
2 nights camping is $50 per adult
kids under 12 are $25 for 2 or 3 days camping.
An example of total cost.
A single person arriving on Thursday and departing on Sunday will pay a total of $80.00 + $60 + 25 = $165
Yes we managed to do it a little cheaper this year thanks to Rick Newman.
Passengers are $20 extra and they also receive dinner and a raffle ticket
Kids 12 and under will receive a dinner ticket from Lucky8
You will only be charged the camping fee for the nights you stay so those arriving later will pay less for camping. This will be a 4-day, 3 night event, starting on Thursday September 19th
Children under 2 are free.

In case you have been living under a rock and never heard of conclave here's last years official video.

Registration opening soon.

Same weekend as the VA4WDA annual trail ride in Nelson County Virginia. I am a trial guide at the event so will not be able to go to the conclave. (that is right, a Rover as a trail guide, not a Jeep) If you do not want to take the drive come to Nelson County for for a fun wheeling two days.

Now don't get us started on that Oak Ridge debacle!

Seriously, sorry you won't make it.
Last year it was really a nice event, although most of the trails were rock gardens and void of any real mud... at least the ones we traversed.

It was the last time most of us saw our friend Mike VanCuren.
We have a group from Tidewater planning to go.
