I have Army Reserve duty up in Aurora on the 19th and I'll probably spend the rest of the weekend in Denver if you guys can get out that weekend. Otherwise, Mounument-area is do-able for me on a normal weekday/weekend.

I'd love to do a shooting/camping trip. I'm in Durango the weekend of the 14-16th but any weekend other than that works great for me.

Oh they make an AR in .338, it's very expensive but with you, well you never know. Could be a Savage 110 or a Rem 700, Win 70. On a bad day any of those should be a sub MOA rifle.

Pawnee in the late spring is best for camping.

Latest Redneck Upgrade

Humvee seatcover complete with molle webbing on the back. Just rack your choice of goodies. I went with storage for 3 AR mags, 3 pistol mags, 4 M1a mags and a drop bag. What do you think? A little too"Zombie Apocolypse"? Or good to go? Also tossed in a picture of my first group of test loads from the .17. Unfortunately, the rest of the test loads had to be used to quell a revolt from a roving band of rogue prairie dogs.

This weather sure is nice. New head gaskets and milled heads going on this week. Hoping to head up into the foothills on the weekend of the 18-20th if anybody is interested.

Who knows. Somewhere in the Front Range between here and Denver, I guess. I'd like to do a night of car camping. Do you know of any good areas that won't be too buried in snow right now?

I'd imagine that most anywhere along the front range (rampart range road) would be fairly snow free. Perhaps around Tarryall or up around Bailey? Rod knows that area pretty good. Speaking of Bailey, we all should a ride through the backroads and end up at the Bucksnort for happy hour sometime. That'd be a good time.

I have two suggestions. Neither see a whole lot of people.
Lost Creek Wilderness -Given your obvious camera skills, empty your memory card before you head out. Lots of bouldering for you, too.
Beaver Creek SWA -Real sleeper. Camp at the south end. Lower elevation so there's less snow worry. Take your fly rod. Its kinda deserty down below and feels like the mountains up above. Nice day hike to the confluence of the creeks on a decent trail. You won't see anyone. If a person had time, I'd take a hike up strawberry butte and look for Bighorn sheep winterkill horns. They winter up there. That country is rugged as fuck. If you go far enough off trail you'll see country no one's seen in a century.

Dave - D90 HH rules state the attendee with the fewest number of days owning a Defender buys the first round. Just so you know in advance. Mark

Its like paying rent. First and last round plus deposit on future rounds equal to 1 1/2 time the cost of the first round, should you ever sell your defender.
