Camping sites in North East with Truck

Hi Guys

I am looking for some camping sites in the Catskills, NY or anywhere with in a 3 hour drive from NYC. I want to be able to park my truck at the site, set up tent and fish. Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

Thank you!

We stayed @ a place called Battenkill River Sports and Campground on the NY/VT border. A bunch of us stayed there a couple years back during a rover event put on by Eric Riston @ Atlantic British. Hot showers and we were camping right on the river bank.

In Roscoe there is a nice campground. There is a lot of fly fishing in the area. I have stayed a few times and it is reasonable, sites are HUGE.

I usually go once or twice a year. You need reservations if planning on Memorial Day weekend. Showers are OK. Wood prices are fair. A lot of covered bridges in the area to see along with touristy crap. Make sure you specify "family site" or "party site" as they segregate the campground.

There are 3 or 4 fly shops in town (less than 1/2 mile from the campsites)

but when I did go with the kids when they were younger, it was easy. just pull up to your spot, set up, and your done. they've got facilities too. about 2 hours from you.

Few good ones in Phoenicia, NY all on the Esopus Creek. You're near dining, bars, & close to the Delaware River - East Branch.

Penns Creek outside State College, PA has good fly fishing. You can camp at Poe Paddy State Park right on the riverbank.

Poe Paddy State Park is located at the confluence of Big Poe Creek and Penns Creek, a trout anglerís paradise featuring the nationally recognized green drake mayfly hatch in June. Hikers also walk Mid State Trail. Poe Valley State Park is nearby.

I used to go camping with my buddies once or twice a year. Here are the couple of places that I could find in my e-mail quickly.

1) Indian Head Canoes Campground. Right on the Delaware River in Barryville, NY. 9C is the best spot right on the river.

3883 RT 97 – Barryville, NY 12719

Here are links to the Campgroup and some reviews.

2) Covered Bridge Campsites. Really picturesque place. Yes you go through a covered bridge to get to the site. Tons of hiking available. Also right on a river. They also have chickens and roosters and stuff for the kids to see.

68 Conklin Hill Road, Livingston Manor, NY 12758

Just make sure you ask the size of the sites. We have tried multiple places and some are very tight. So close you can hear other campers fart and snore. Roscoe has huge sites.
