Sounds like there was a huge turnout -- how was it?

Does anyone know where to purchase rims wider than factory rims. I have gone crazy looking all over the U.S. and nobody can match the lug-pattern.

Gulf Coast Rovers has some 15x8 black steel wheels for $61 each. www.gulfcoastrovers.com Also Trek Outfitters although, I hope they can be ordered without the fake beadlock. 15x8, 16x8, and 16x10 http://www.trekoutfitters.com/extra/...gear/index.htm

Hey guys,

Missed you all out there. The weather was perfect and the new rig did great. There were at least 250 trucks there, mostly Jeeps, with me being one of 2 Rovers. The other was an LR3 of all things. It was a great time. The mud pit was packed Saturday night with enough testosterone and Jeeps to scare a small 3rd world country.

Clay, the field we camped in last year was packed. It was at least twice as big as last year overall.

The next event is in June (8-10), and I am sure it is going to be even bigger. There was even a line of 26 trucks in the "stock" ride. On our ride, there was a new FJ that bent a trailing arm and a brand new 4Runner with both side steps bent so bad he could barely open the doors. Both the owners were crying! It was classic!

I think we are going to try to make it out for the "Spring Fling" in June.

greg, thanks for the report! you're right, if the april event was big the next one will be huge. did they have a bon fire going this year?

is your new rig locked? if so, you must be loving it. we've got to do a better job getting rovers represented there. it really is a great bunch of folks and some toughest trails around. puts RC on its heels in some ways.

Apparently, they save the bon fire and the band for the June event, as it is 4-days long. I agree, it is definitely the best area for rock crawling within 2 hours of DC, in my opinion. And the people that put it on, and attend, are great.

No lockers in the truck yet, but I think my skills are getting better, so that helped out. I think I will throw some lockers in next year. It was enough of an effort swapping over all my off-road gear to the new truck.

Are you going to the Spring Rally at Crozet?
