Guided? Are you serious?

Could have been worse. You could have arrived at MAR one weekend late....

Registered a couple weeks ago but still have a few newbie questions on the logistics. I've read all the posts but I'm still not sure if there are meals available for purchase other than the Sat night dinner (which sounds amazing). If not, are most people cooking other meals at the campsite, coordinating runs to the Dairy Queen in Pembroke, etc. Is there a "common" area for everyone to congregate for meals? Just want to know if I have to pack cooking gear because that means less room for spares...

Also, from the veterans, any lists of stuff to bring/not bring from past years? What are the top things that you forgot last year and are bringing this year? (this should be interesting...)

Also, I don't have the 110 set up for rock crawling so I'm guessing the novice and intermediate trails are where I'd be spending most of the time but are there other pics available of the different trails from the clean-up weekends?

Also, I probably can't get there until Friday afternoon so is there a schedule of events for each day or is there a driver's meeting in the mornings, etc.

Really looking forward to this - I just want to be prepared.

Thanks!
Greg

Yes- the local Jeep club has offered their services as guides this year-Fireman Short probably has all the details.

Greg,
It might be too late to prepare your liver for the MAR. That takes months, if not years, of preparation.
Also understand that the weather will do a complete 180* after MAR starts.

Greg there typically aren't any common cooking facilities set up an no group meals other than Sat night. I haven't been in a couple years but the rock crawling stuff is minimal at the MAR. There should be plenty of trails for you to run. Mostly governed by your tolerance for what I cal West Virginia pinstriping from shrubs etc.

NOMAR - I am going to pee in your tent after you go to bed at night.

Stop spreading false rumors - you know how worked up people can get.

Besides, the jeep club backed out at the last minute. They said they had a jeep thing to go to and I would not understand. Instead, I found an all female group of guides that all have really hairy legs and drive hopped up Subarus. Their fee was only a little higher than the Jeep guys so we will collect a modest surcharge once all the MAR attendees show up. It is going to be legendary.

I think the weather is looking perfect. (No doubt it will change). May even avoid frost.

Yeah, it's called the "Overcamping Expo" or something like that. I don't understand it either... :p

------ Follow up post added September 26th, 2015 05:59 PM ------

I prefer to get lost on my own, but I honestly don't mind if the trail riding is guided- as long as I know ahead of time. Just need to know so I can focus on my stereo and other creature comforts, it is no fun sitting in an offroad traffic jam.

Yes that's the way it's been at this site and it can be a huge disappointment under the wrong circumstances.
A tip is to ask for a specific start and stop time before you depart because I got caught all day on what was represented by the guide to be a 1 hour trail ride.
We were without food, water, and beer all day except for the generosity of DavieB who passed out beer like it was going out of style.

Face it Robert you were not pissed off because of start times, long lines, obstacle waiting, trucks stalling, lack of water, no food or such stuff.....you were pissed off because you left your beer at camp.

I had decided this evening I was just going to keep my fridge in my "support vehicle" but tomorrow I think job 1 will be rewiring my aux. 12v outlet in the Disco for full time operation.

Also considering a massive subwoofer. Does this place get better satellite reception or 4G I wonder?
