Yea I found a very high-end Motor Lodge in Pearisburg for I think $25 a night. I had driven the 110 something like 18-20 hours straight from South Florida (spanking that sorry ass 2.5na WOT the entire time) and was in desperate need of a shower. I ended up keeping the room (and a clean ass) the entire weekend. I just may do it again.

Semper Shower,
Raub

Not registered yet, considering bringing my son along (11 years old) anyone else have kids coming along this year. He loves camping, but might get bored if he was the only kid for the whole weekend.

Thanks,

Mike

Ethan (6) is coming along. He's a wheeling veteran, and has spent more time on trails in 6 than Pedro in his 40 years . Ethan also frequently hangs with "older" kids, so while there is a spread in ages I'd imagine they will get along just fine.

Another guy from the board here (JJ14) is *probably* coming, and his daughter (9 or 10 I think) would be coming as well. There's also usually lots of other kids running around regardless...if Doug's brother Cabell comes his 2 kids will be in tow as well.

What's the skinny on the camp ground? Any facilities (toilets, anything else) Newbie to MAR
Answered sorta my own question. Ports-loos is it.

Flat ground at a premium.. Humm need space for the RV-5.

Rolling fields (camping @ the base of a mountain which is where the trails are), flat ground @ a premium, porta-lets. There is space for rv's and people bring them but get there early would be the advice.

Camping Spots

This is plucked from the club Facebook page....

The image is of the camping area near where Uncle Doug and his small gathering of respectable gentlemen normally settle. This was taken over the weekend - so it is a fairly up to date sample of the current conditions.

It shows the gentle roll of the terrain....

(This is also an "off road action shot". Uncle Doug likes to rib me about my "still-life" images.)

.......

Also - second photo shows were we started back on August 9.... (same field - different spot)

Spoke with Raub and he's got a blown head gasket on the 200. Plan is for him to trailer up to here and I'll do the job Wed. We may show up a little hung over Thursday.

Offer stands for any damn Yankee who wants to attend but doesn't want to make the drive. The Amtrak North East Commuter train ends/begins @ Lynchbug Va daily and I'm 25 mins from the station. Come in Wed night and grab a ride to the event.

Conversely, "Rooster Tail" Ron Peppard is driving down from Waltham Mass if you wanna caravan.
